The Chicago Bears have no shortage of ex-Packers on their 2022 NFL Roster. It feels like every few weeks we are hearing about them adding another one. The most recent one is DT Mike Pennel. Pennel, 31, is entering his ninth NFL season and has spent time with five other teams, including a stint with Kansas City in 2019-20. He spent the first three years of his career in Green Bay (2014-2016).
This is the fifth ex-Packers the Bears have added this season
- Offensive Coordinator Luke Getsy
- Offensive Lineman Lucas Patrick
- Wide Receiver Equanimeous St. Brown
- Wide Receiver David Moore
- and now Defensive Lineman Mike Pennel
I am not sure if there is a record for one team adding a number of players from another team in one single off-season, but the 2022 Bears have to be high on that list. Getsy, St. Brown, and Lucas Patrick figure to be the top three contributors for the Bears this season out of that group. However with DT Akiem Hicks signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mike Pennel may get more opportunities as well.
