Mamadi Diakite won a National Championship with Virginia in 2019. However, when the 2020 NBA Draft came around, he was largely forgotten. He was not drafted by any team, but the Bucks took a shot on him as an undrafted free agent.
After spending the G League season with the Lakeland Magic, Diakite joined the Milwaukee Bucks’ team. He had a very successful run in the G League, making First Team All Defense. Diakite has made the most of his time with the Bucks, having put together a 20-point game when the Bucks’ starters were all out.
He is averaging just over two points and two rebounds per game overall. The signing of Diakite’s to a long-term deal fills out the Bucks’ roster. The Bucks also signed Justin Jackson to a two-way contract to fill that role on the roster.
