BREAKING: Brewers to Open Season vs Cubs

The MLB Lockout is over, and the first game of the Brewers’ 2022 season has been announced!

Major League Baseball and the MLB Player’s Union have finally come to an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement. With the biggest obstacles to a 2022 season now out of the way, and the biggest task left is putting pen to paper, baseball fans can now begin looking forward to opening day.

Since the MLB and MLBPA were able to come to an agreement this week, they have decided to begin the season on April 7th, 2022. Rather than create a new schedule, Major League Baseball will make up the previously cancelled games through a series of doubleheaders throughout the season.

    Brewers Opening Day

On April 7th, the Milwaukee Brewers will open the 2022 season against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. Without a lockout, this would’ve been the Brewers’ third series of the year. Although Brewers fans are likely bummed Opening Day won’t be a home game, they’re just excited to have baseball back. However, some might argue that Wrigley has technically been Miller Park South since the 2018 NL Central tiebreaker game.

The Brewers are playing in one of seven Opening Day games on April 7th. Here is the April 7 Opening Day schedule (times to be announced):

    • White Sox at Royals
    • Red Sox at Yankees
    • Mariners at Twins
    • Pirates at Cardinals
    • Mets at Nationals
    • Reds at Braves
    • Brewers at Cubs
    • Astros at Angels
    • Padres at Diamondbacks

The Brewers will have their home opener on April 14th against the St. Louis Cardinals. The last time they hosted St. Louis on Opening Day in 2019 when they won 5-4. The Brew Crew went on to win three out of four games in that opening series. Brewers fans will be hoping for a similar result to set the Crew up for a strong start to the season.
