Earlier today, Brewers fans were joyously celebrating the return of popular relief pitcher John Axford to the organization. Now, however, the reason behind the deal became more clear. Milwaukee’s All-Star closer, Josh Hader, is heading to the IL with COVID-19.

Hader is just the latest in a series of Brewers’ players who have tested positive for the virus in recent days. Relief pitchers Hunter Strickland, Jake Cousins, and Jandel Gustave are all on the IL with positive tests. Christian Yelich, too, is on the IL with a positive COVID test.
