Boom
The dominoes continue to fall for Wisconsin as Iowa native TJ Bollers becomes the 14th commitment in the 2021 class. Bollers had a top group of schools recruiting him: Wisconsin, Alabama, Iowa State, California, Nebraska and Northwestern. The consensus four star prospect joins three other future Badgers to publicly announce their commitments since Memorial Day.
Impact
Bollers is listed as a defensive end, but don’t be surprised if he ends up as an outside linebacker in Madison. Wisconsin has done a nice job of putting explosive playmakers into the NFL. This has made them an attractive landing spot. Bollers joins OLB Darryl Peterson in choosing Wisconsin over an offer from Alabama. Beating out the Crimson Tide for an offensive lineman is one thing, but earning two commitments from the OLB/DE position over them is something that Wisconsin never does. If Wisconsin wants to compete with the big boys, they are going to have to recruit like them as well. Credit the staff for finding their guys early, building a relationship, and sealing the deal.
What’s Next?
It appears Rivals four star Ricardo Hallman could be the next guy to be a part of this class. The Florida native’s Twitter account is very pro-Wisconsin and is something to keep an eye on. June has traditionally been a friendly month for Wisconsin under Paul Chryst on the recruiting trail. It certainly wouldn’t be surprising if you see more guys pull the trigger especially with fall official visits in question.
