Paul Chryst is out at Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Badgers have been off to a slow start in 2022. The Badgers are currently 2-3, and just suffered one of the most embarrassing losses in recent memory. The week prior, the Badgers suffered a 52-21 loss to Ohio State on prime-time national television. Those recent developments led to the firing of Paul Chryst today. A number of players and beat writers took to social media to describe what Chryst has meant their personal development, or Wisconsin in general. Braelon Allen had a particularly strong response.
Braelon Allen Reacts To Paul Chryst Firing
Anyone who wanted Coach Chryst gone isn’t a part of this team.
— Braelon Allen (@BraelonAllen) October 3, 2022
Braelon Allen certainly drew a line in the sand. He clearly still backs Coach Chryst and is saddened by this news. Paul Chryst certainly earned his keep at Wisconsin. He took over as the Wisconsin Head Coach in 2015 and has an overall record of 67-26; a win percentage that almost any Big Ten University would kill for. However, over the last 27 games he is 15-12 and just lost to Illinois at home.
He also has a record of 43-18 in conference play. Chryst led the Badgers to three divisional championships and twice won Big Ten coach of the year. The team struggled to achieve the same success after the Badgers’ appearance in the Rose Bowl for the 2019 season. The team went 4-3 in the 2020 season and 9-4 last season. The start of this season has been a disaster for the program. Chryst had been criticized for not developing a quarterback that could compete for a Big Ten Championship. While this move makes sense given the last few years, it can’t be overstated how much Coach Chryst meant to these players and this University. We wish nothing but the best for Paul Chryst going forward.
