Braelon Allen deciding to stay in Madison was huge for the Wisconsin Badgers. This past season he rushed for over 1,100 yards and accounted for 10 touchdowns. To have a player with this kind of production back is huge. In a recent interview, Braelon Allen revealed what excites him about Fickell’s new offense.
B. Allen on what excites him about new O: Probably running into six man boxes and not just knowing every week it’s going to be eight or nine guys in the box on every single play. Playing in an offense that is more spread out it just automatically is going to loosen up defenses.

Braelon Allen On Fickell’s New Offense
The quarterback play in Wisconsin last season caused a lot of opponents to stack the box. Teams were not afraid of Graham Mertz so they would put eight or nine guys in the box to try and stop the running game. This will no longer be the case in the new offense. Teams will have to respect the passing game and Allen is excited. He will be running into six-man boxes more often meaning he has more chances to break off huge runs. When the defense is more spread out, there is more potential for big plays in the running game.
Makes The 2022 Season More Impressive
The fact that Braelon Allen ran for over 1,100 yards is even more impressive. The fact that Allen was facing nine-man boxes and still averaged 5.4 yards per carry is impressive. Allen will come into next year looking to have a career year and the offense will be set up for it. Expect to see a lot more big runs from Allen next season. The first look at what next season might look like comes in the bowl game against Oklahoma State. It will be interesting to see who plays quarterback and whether that will make the Cowboys’ defense have to respect the passing game. If so, Allen could have a huge game.
Braedon Allen is already excited to play in Fickell’s new offense. We get the first look at the Guaranteed Rate Bowl on Tuesday night.
