The Milwaukee Brewers have some absolute all stars on their team. However, for years one has reigned supreme. Josh Hader is not only one of the Brewers’ best players; he’s one of the best closers in all of baseball. The Brewers could be exploring what they could get for Hader via trade.
Brewers Shopping Josh Hader?
Per Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Brewers are willing to listen to offers on Hader. This has been the case for seemingly the last few seasons, but Milwaukee has yet to receive anything they’ve deemed worth parting with arguably the best relief pitcher in all of baseball.
This type of a trade is one that you would hope gets you over “pennant” hump. With Devin Williams turning into an all-star type of closer, it could open the door for the Brewers to move on from Hader and get a serious hitter in return.
What is a realistic trade?
Zach Rymer at Bleacher Report had eight “win-win” trades that make sense for all teams involved. The Red Sox need a closer and the Brewers need an offensive boost, especially at first base. The full deal Rymer suggests is this:
Red Sox receive: LHP Josh Hader
Brewers receive: 1B Bobby Dalbec, 2B Nick Yorke, and RHP Bryan Mata
For two years of control over Josh Hader, the Red Sox would give the Brewers their starting first baseman from last year, their first round pick from 2020 in Yorke, and another top 10 prospect from the Red Sox system in Mata. Something close to this is what Brewers fans should expect to see in return for Hader if he is indeed shipped off.
