In a stunning move, the Wisconsin Badgers are finalizing a deal to hire Luke Fickell as their next head coach. Many thought interim head coach Jim Leonhard was a lock to be the next Wisconsin head coach. The Badgers, however, chose to go a different direction. Who is Luke Fickell? Find out more here. There was more breaking news that happened involving the Big Ten. Michigan QB Cade McNamara has officially entered the transfer portal.
Michigan QB Cade McNamara Enters Transfer Portal

Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara has entered the transfer portal, team spokesman Dave Ablauf confirmed on Monday. McNamara had a season-ending injury to his right knee on September 17th against Connecticut, one game after J.J. McCarthy won the starting job.
In 2021, McNamara led Michigan to a Big Ten Championship as well as their first win against Ohio State in nine attempts. It was Michigan’s first Big Ten Conference win since 2004. The third-team All-Big Ten player in 2021 threw for 2,576 yards with 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. McNamara, who is from Reno, Nevada, can potentially play at another school for two seasons. He redshirted as a freshman in 2019 and the NCAA has given any student-athlete from the 2020-21 school year an extra year of eligibility.
Could Luke Fickell Recruit McNamara?
While there is no direct link to Wisconsin, many believe that McNamara could stay in the Big Ten. With Graham Mertz not panning out the way Badgers fans expected, the QB position will be up for grabs in Wisconsin. Luke Fickell has mentioned he is brining multiple recruiting personnel with him to Madison. Fickell will also bring strength coach Brady Collins with him to Wisconsin. He’s been Fickell’s most trusted aide since he began at Cincinnati. He helped nine Bearcats develop into NFL Draft picks last season. A key hire, as Wisconsin will be a developmental program. Whether you want to accept it or not, Luke Fickell brings a level of recruiting to Wisconsin that Madison has not seen in a long time.
