Justin Fields’ injury status gets an update
The Green Bay Packers struggled to defend the run against the Philadelphia Eagles. Head coach Matt LaFleur credited that to the Eagles’ running attack. A big piece of that attack included running quarterback Jalen Hurts, who ran for 157 yards. LaFleur mentioned Monday that finding ways to stop the Bears’ similar running offense with Justin Fields was a top priority for their coaching staff this week.
Fields suffered a separated shoulder injury against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 11. Fields was unable to play against the New York Jets last week. He was a limited participant in practice Wednesday. However, Fields seems to be progressing his way back to the lineup against the Packers.
According to Thursday’s injury report released by the Bears, Fields was a full participant in practice. Backup quarterback Trevor Siemian was not participating in Thursday’s practice. The Bears signed former Packers and Lions quarterback Tim Boyle due to the injuries at quarterback.

What Fields playing could mean for the Packers
Fields was one of the hottest quarterbacks in the NFL before his injury. He was breaking records for the Bears on the ground. The Packers running defense is currently ranked 31st in the NFL in yards per game. The Bears ran for 180 yards in their September matchup the Packers won handily in Green Bay.
However, with Fields coming off of an injury, he might be not be running as much this week. The Bears might have to rely on Fields to try and air it out more rather than to try and make a play with his feet. Throwing over scrambling is something many Fields critics in Chicago would like to see out of the Ohio State product.
