At 21 years old, Brewers 2022 MiLB pitcher of the year Carlos Rodriguez put on a show during Nicaragua’s opening World Baseball Classic match up against Puerto Rico. The right-handed pitcher, who has not advanced past A Ball in the Minor Leagues, threw four innings, struck out three batters, and gave up one run during his WBC debut. Rodriguez did this against a Puerto Rico lineup that consists of MLB players such as: Francisco Lindor, Enrique Hernandez, MJ Melendez, Javier Baez, Emmanuel Rivera, Eddie Rosario, and more.
During his outing, Rodriguez was an on target throw away from blanking Puerto Rico. During the first inning, he found himself in a tough situation with runners on first and third and just one out. He generated the ground ball that he needed, but the throw to first was wide.
Puerto Rico is on the board first 🇵🇷

The baseball community is raving about Brewers pitching prospect Carlos Rodriguez.
Carlos Rodriguez is dealing for @NicaBeis right now. 4IP 1ER 1BB 3Ks against a potent Puerto Rico lineup featuring some big time major leaguers. @Shawn_Spradling @WBCBaseball

For a kid that’s never pitched above high A, Carlos Rodriguez looks really good against a team full of MLB players

Just 45 pitches through four innings (so far) for #Brewers Carlos Rodriguez, incredibly impressive and poised in front of a full house in his adopted home town in Miami. The one run allowed in the 1st was only because his second baseman failed to turn an easy double play.
