Another Wisconsin Badgers’ player is set to enter the transfer portal as Trech Kekahuna joins fellow recent entry Tackett Curtis for the second time.
Kekahuna is a former three-star wide receiver who has spent the last three seasons with Wisconsin. The receiver originally sat near the bottom in a crowded room, but quickly impressed last season and earned a true role within the offense. Kekahuna had a productive season before entering the portal, removing his name, and returning to Wisconsin for the 2025 season.
Curtis, a former standout linebacker recruit, originally played for USC before spending the past two seasons in Madison. The Badgers’ staff was impressed with Curtis early, but a lack of production compounded with the emergence of players like Christian Alliegro, Cooper Catalano, and Mason Posa left little playing time to go around.
Wisconsin Badgers’ Receiver Trech Kekahuna Entering the Transfer Portal for a Second Time

At the start of the last off-season, Kekahuna entered his name into the transfer portal and seemed like a lock to find a new collegiate home. The receiver ultimately opted to return to Madison and remove his name from the portal, which at the time was a major win for the program. Wisconsin added receivers like Eugene Hilton Jr. and Jayden Ballard to the mix as well in hopes of adding more depth to the room.
However, 2025 proved to be less successful than 2024 for Kekahuna and the possibility of another portal entry only grew. The receiver recorded 339 yards and two touchdowns in 2024 with the help of multiple play-callers but dropped to just 211 yards in 2025.
The quarterback and offensive line issues were notable this season but the lack of production for Kekahuna was due to a variety of factors. The receiver played in all 12 games for the Badgers this season but recorded 41 less snaps compared to the 2024 season. Kekahuna has had eight of his targets intercepted the past two seasons which is the most among all Wisconsin receivers.

The firing of former offensive coordinator Phil Longo reportedly weighed heavily on Kekahuna as the receiver opted to enter the portal at the end of last season. New coordinator Jeff Grimes was able to retain the receiver after lengthy conversations, but improvements on the field were expected. Without improvement keeping Kekahuna became less likely as the season progressed.
The receiver, if he fully transfers this time, will finish his Wisconsin career with 55 receptions, 614 yards, and two touchdowns. Kekahuna also added 140 yards and a touchdown on the ground during his tenure with the Badgers.
Kekahuna has not yet been ranked as a transfer prospect but the receiver will join plenty of notable and successful names. Nick Marsh (Michigan State), Perry Thompson (Auburn), Israel Polk (Akron), Nahzae Cox (MTSU), Kylan Billiot (LSU), and Jelani Watkins (LSU) currently round out the top available portal receivers.
