The Wisconsin Badgers seemed to have found a new running backs coach. They have hired former Dallas Cowboys running back coach Gary Brown. Brown replaces former running back coach John Settle, who left for Kentucky. This is according to Clarence Hill Jr of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Hill also stated this came from a source.

The running backs are in good hands 👏

    About Gary Brown

As mentioned earlier, Brown was recently the Dallas Cowboys running backs coach from 2013-20219. He sat out last season after a battle with cancer. Brown was also on the running backs staff for the Cleveland Browns from 2009-2012 and with Rutgers in 2008. Brown is currently 51 years old.

Not only did the Badgers get a coach with NFL experience, but Brown coached current Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliot to a NFL rushing title in 2016 and 2018. Former Cowboys back DeMarco Murray also won a rushing title under Brown in 2014. Per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram: “Each season he was with the Cowboys, the club averaged at least 4.5 yards per carry. It was the longest streak in team history that was snapped in 2020 when they averaged 4.2 in his absence.”

New #Badgers running backs coach Gary Brown tutored three NFL rushing champions with the Dallas Cowboys:

    Ezekiel Elliott – 2016

I really like this hire. John Settle was a great running backs coach for the Badgers. Settle helped develop former Badger running backs Montee Ball, James White, and Jonathan Taylor to stellar college careers. With the Badgers just about ready to open spring football, this is a great time to get a great hire.

    Overall

In my opinion, this was about as good of a hire as you could ask for. A coach who has done it at the biggest stage for one of the most popular professional teams in the world. I love the hire and I can’t wait to see what Gary Brown does for the Badgers!
