In a gut-wrenching turn during the NFC Wild Card playoff clash between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers on January 10, 2026, former Wisconsin Badgers standout linebacker T.J. Edwards suffered a severe non-contact leg injury that forced him from the field on a cart.
The moment, occurring early in the first quarter at Soldier Field, sent shockwaves through Bears Nation and highlighted the brutal toll of playoff football.

Edwards, the 29-year-old defensive leader and team captain, went down for a few minutes before being helped onto the cart. Trainers rushed in immediately, and an air cast was applied to stabilize the leg before Edwards was carted off, visibly in significant pain. Teammates offered support as he exited, underscoring his importance to the locker room.
T.J. Edwards Was A Leader For the Badgers

Edwards’ journey from Madison to the pros makes this moment especially poignant for Badgers fans. The undrafted free agent from Lakes Community High School in Illinois flipped his commitment to Wisconsin in 2013 and became a tackling machine for the Badgers from 2014-2018.
After going undrafted in 2019, Edwards carved out a solid NFL career, starting with the Philadelphia Eagles before signing a lucrative deal with the Bears in 2023. In Chicago, he’s been a tackling leader and vocal captain, bringing the same tenacity he displayed in Madison. This latest setback adds to a frustrating 2025 where injuries limited him to fewer snaps than in prior healthy seasons.
