The Wisconsin Badgers are positioned as an early school to watch in the recruitment of an SEC wide receiver who could make an immediate impact.

Oklahoma Sooners transfer Jayden Gibson could have his eyes on Madison, according to On3’s Pete Nakos.  Wisconsin has surfaced as an early contender, however, they’ll have to fight off schools like South Carolina.

It was a promising but interrupted career for 6’5″, 205-pound wide receiver Jayden Gibson at Oklahoma.

The 2023 season saw him record 14 receptions for 375 yards and 5 touchdowns, averaging 26.8 yards per catch and established himself as an elite deep threat.

He was sidelined for the entire 2024 season due to a knee injury sustained before the season started. With two years remaining in his eligibility, Gibson departed the program in 2025.

Teams looking to add a vertical stretch to their offense continue to be attracted to his combination of size, speed, and big-play ability.

Why Wisconsin Badgers Are Targeting Jayden Gibson Transfer

The Wisconsin Badgers’ passing offense struggled mightily throughout the 2025 season, ranking a dismal 132nd nationally with an average of just 136.4 yards per game.

This horrendous offensive output was enabled by numerous injuries to the quarterback and wide receiver positions.   The remaining depth proved thin, with players like Chris Brooks Jr. and Tyrell Henry combining for fewer than 20 catches all season.

In response, head coach Luke Fickell and his staff need to aggressively target the transfer portal to breath life into this program. Jayden Gibson’s impressive length and big-play potential make him an ideal fit.

As of December 24, 2025, recruitment updates indicate that Wisconsin (and South Carolina) has emerged as an early school to watch. Gibson is represented by agent Casey Gunn, and with the winter transfer portal window now open, a decision could be made soon.

If the Badgers successfully land Gibson, he could immediately step in as a WR1.   He would also offer the quarterback (likely Billy Edwards Jr.) a reliable downfield weapon.

Overall, this buzz surrounding the Jayden Gibson transfer creates excitement within a fan base who needs it.  Wisconsin’s is ready to start addressing the team’s offensive shortcomings following a challenging 2025 campaign.
