The Wisconsin Badgers have added a notable transfer portal addition to the tight end room after reviewing multiple options at the position.
Jacob Harris announced his commitment to Wisconsin early this afternoon after visiting Madison officially once the portal opened. Harris met with the staff yesterday and announced his commitment through Hayes Fawcett of On3 less than a day later.
The 6-foot-4, 255-pound tight end was originally a wide receiver in the 2023 class before switching over in 2024. Harris gained over 50 pounds in an effort to bulk up for the position change and now holds onto a prototypical frame. This season was the first real action Harris has seen at the collegiate level after sitting behind the likes of Cleveland Browns’ tight end Harold Fannin Jr. in 2024.
The former two-star recruit signed with Bowling Green out of high school and earned a role in the lineup during the 2025 season. Harris recorded 19 receptions for 182 yards and five touchdowns this past season including a long of 38 yards. The Falcons utilized two tight ends often and Harris carved out a role for himself as the secondary tight end behind Jyrin Johnson.

Tight end has been a position that the Badgers have struggled to generate much production out of the past few seasons. Missouri State transfer Lance Mason brought plenty of promise this past season, but the offense fell short this season in Madison. Harris has the potential to take over the room for Wisconsin next season as a highly anticipated quarterback addition continues to float around.
Wisconsin Badgers Land Bowling Green Tight End Jacob Harris
Harris joins Wisconsin just hours before the Badgers’ staff adds another player to the offense in the form of running back Abu Sama III.
The running back is a former Iowa State standout and rotational back who split carries this past season as a co-starter for the team. Sama is a dynamic running back who adds plenty of different looks out of the backfield to the Badgers, and Harris is someone who can do the same at tight end.
The successful tight end started off as a wide receiver and switched over to tight end due to his blocking prowess and size at 6-foot-4. Harris has all the tools of a wide receiver within the body of a tight end, and covering Harris is not a simple task. The tight end should be in the running for a starting role within the Badgers’ offense next season after hitting the field consistently this past season.
Harris is currently set to join returning tight ends Grant Stec and Jackson McGohan barring any changes. Stec, a redshirt freshman, recorded five receptions for 52 yards after seeing his first action this past season for Wisconsin. McGohan, a redshirt sophomore, started his career with LSU and finished this past season with three receptions for 35 yards.
