The Badger coaches have been hot on the recruiting trail since the start of the new year. Not only have they been visiting high schools across the country, they’ve been sending out a ton of offers. I’ll be covering a handful of the players that have received offers over the last week and breaking down their tape a bit.
Camron Richardson- DB Class of 2024
The 6’2″ 185 pound athlete out of New Jersey lines up at safety the vast majority of time. He’s currently listed as a 3 star by rivals. While watching his tape, a couple things stood out. For one, he always seems to be in a very good position in coverage. The second thing, he is a very sound tackler. His athleticism won’t wow you, but that can change when in a high end weight program. His ability to diagnose situations at a high level and put himself in premium positions is key. Commitment lean: Cam only has 2 major offers so far (Boston College and Kentucky) so Wisconsin is his biggest offer to date.
Hank Weber- DE Class of 2024
Hank is a 6’4, 255 pounds edge rusher out of Tennessee. He’s currently listed as a 3 star by both rivals and 247. His film shows a player that could make a big jump if he has a good senior year. He is much more explosive than I expected and absolutely dominates high school offensive lineman. He has the power to throw them out of the way and the speed-agility combo to work around them if needed. He also does a great job of staying disciplined on run plays while setting the edge. He reminds me a bit of JJ Watt coming out of high school but Hank seems to have more polish to his game. Commitment lean: Hank doesn’t have any major interest reported which could put the Badgers in a great spot.
Jayden Jackson- DL Class of 2024
Jayden is currently unranked on both major recruiting sites, but when you’re 6’2 300 pounds, colleges are going to be interested! He’s currently playing at IMG Academy in Florida and after watching his tape, I can confidently say his stars aren’t far away. With his frame, it shouldn’t be a surprise that he has a ton of power. It’s his short area quickness and burst that were unexpected. He uses his strength to get the offensive lineman off balances and follows it up with a quick move to get free. He seems to constantly be in the backfield blowing up run plays and pressuring the quarterback. Commitment lean: Jayden is currently most interested in Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee.
Jerod Smith- DE Class of 2024
Connecticut may not be a high school football power house, but Jerod makes it very clear he’s the best player on the field every game. Standing at 6’4″ and weighing in at 250 pounds, the four star prospect would be an incredible addition. His tape shows him getting double teamed almost every play and he fights through it with power. Whenever he is isn’t double teamed, Jerod does a great job of using his speed along with hand fighting moves to break free. He is an absolute game wrecker. Commitment lean: According to 247, Jerod is most interested in Kentucky and Notre Dame.
Colin Cubberly- OL Class of 2024
Colin stands at 6’6″ and weighs in at 300 pounds. He has the body major colleges look for out of high school offensive lineman prospects. The 3 star out of New York has a slight size advantage over his NY competition. His film is exactly what you’d expect but also shows an ability to get to the second level. He may not be an elite athlete, but he has the speed and agility to block well downfield against quicker defenders. Commitment lean: Colin has a long offer list but Texas, Penn State and Wisconsin are far and away his biggest. No lean to this point.
Corey Sadler Jr- ATH Class of 2026
The Badgers are reaching out very early here as Sadler is still in his freshman year of high school. With that said, he’s already 5’11” and 185 pounds. He’s currently unranked but I believe that’s common for prospects so early in the process. The Michigan native is a human highlight reel. He played quarterback, corner and receiver during his freshman year. It’ll be interesting to see which position he focuses on but on tape, he looks like a receiver. He is far and away the best athlete on the field but also has great hands and does a great job of setting the corner up to open up space. Commitment lean: Far too early to tell but he already has an offer list that includes Miami, Oklahoma, Michigan, Ohio State and many more.
That concludes this weeks offer recap. There are a bunch of offers that were sent out before I started this but the plan is to do it weekly so Badger fans can stay up to date.
