Badger coaches have been hot on the recruiting trail since the new year. After a somewhat slow week last week, we are making up for it this week! If you’re interested in who is receiving offers of the Badgers football program, keep an eye out for this article weekly!
Darius Gray- OL Class of 2026
Darius is still a freshmen in high school but already has an impressive offer list. Listed at 6’4″ and 280 pounds, it’s easy to see why. His tape shows plenty of impressive plays on offense and defense. The first thing that stands out is his power. It’s not often you see a freshman physically dominate older kids like this. He does seem to do a really good job of using his hands while on defense though. A lot of time young players rely too much on their physical skills. Darius is already showing advanced rushing skills while working well in open space as an offensive lineman. Commitment lean: Wisconsin is his 6th offer but schools such as South Carolina and Penn State are already in. Far too early to predict for the Virginia native.
Eagan Boyer- OL Class of 2024
Eagan is a 6’8″ 260 pounds offensive lineman out of North Carolina. With a 80.5″ wingspan, he’s more length than weight at this point which is probably why Wisconsin is targeting him late. He isn’t ranked by 247 or rivals but it’s easy to see the potential when he reaches a major collegiate weight room and eating program. His tape is about what you’d expect. A big kid that finishes when he get his hands on you but was more nimble in the open field than I expected. Commitment lean: According to 247 sports, he is warm towards his hometown team, North Carolina. He has some other impressive offers in Auburn, Tennessee and Michigan State but Wisconsin coming in late could change things.
Bud Coombs- RB Class of 2025
Bud is a 5’9″, 175 pound running back out of Maryland. He isn’t currently ranked by either major recruiting site but after watching his highlights, it wouldn’t be shocking to see that change. He may not be a big back but he has good weight for his frame. He appears to have great versatility and reminds me a bit of James White. He has good speed and acceleration while also being able to catch the ball out of the backfield. The Badgers haven’t had a major receiving threat out of the backfield in some time which makes this an exciting offer. Commitment lean: He isn’t reported to be leaning anywhere yet but has big offers from Penn State, Ole Miss and Virginia Tech along with others.
Kahmir Prescott- DB Class of 2024
Kahmir is listed at 6’1″ and 180 pounds. According to hudl he’s a strong safety and running back while the recruiting sites list him as a defensive back. His size seems more well suited for the secondary but the 3 star player is athletic enough to make either work. His tape is interesting as he has great straight line speed but doesn’t appear to be overly shifty. He’s an interesting athlete as I could see him playing a couple different positions at the next level. Commitment lean: He currently has offers from Boston College, Penn State, Pitt, Texas A&M and Wisconsin with no obvious lean any direction.
Michael Uini- OL Class of 2024
Michael is a 4 star offensive line recruit out of Texas and is listed at 6’7″ and 290 pounds. It’s by no means shocking that Wisconsin was his 35th division 1 offer. His tape shows a big body that moves extremely well in space. Even though this is great, I see him pulling or working towards the second level on almost every play. It’s hard to tell what he is capable of in pass protection as he’s not fending off rushers. The good thing is pass blocking can be taught where this type of athleticism can not. Commitment lean: He has offers from all of the top programs in the country and currently isn’t leaning anywhere.
Ethan Calloway- OL Class of 2024
Wisconsin is in on yet another North Carolina offensive lineman as they recently offered Ethan. He stands at 6’7″ and weighs in at 300 pounds while holding a 4 star grade from 247sports. Watching his film was nice because you can see him do a variety of things well. He’s obviously the biggest kid on the field every game, but he doesn’t let that define his play. He finishes blocks, he moves well and uses his hands well while pass protecting. Commitment lean: He seems to be leaning toward UNC which shouldn’t be a surprise. Wisconsin got involved late however and could make a late push.
Mark Schroller- OL Class of 2024
Mark is a 6’6″, 280 pound offensive lineman out of California. He isn’t ranked by either site but has seen 9 offers come in over the last couple of days. Mark has the kind of tape that a program like Wisconsin should be excited about. His footwork could use some work but he appears to be extremely athletic for his size. He moves well in the open field and consistently finishes blocks strong. Give this kind of frame a year in the weight room and he could easily see time at the collegiate level. Commitment lean: Wisconsin is easily his biggest offer thus far but there is no lean reported at this time.
Jack VanDorselaer- TE/DE Class of 2025
Jack is a 6’5″, 225 pound athlete from Southlake, Texas. It’s not very often you have major college football recruits that are also on the varsity swim team, but Jack can do it all! He isn’t currently ranked by either major recruiting site but his tape shows why he got the offer. There aren’t many highlights of him catching the ball but it seems like that has more to do with the offensive scheme than any lack of ability. He’s a great blocker and he used his big body to shield off defenders when receiving down field. Commitment lean: He has some big offers, especially from the Texas schools, but Wisconsin is in relatively early.
Blake Franks- OL Class of 2024
Blake is a 6’5″, 310 pound junior out of South Carolina. He is ranked as a 4 star recruit by rivals and 3 star by 247. Blake has an impressive offer list that includes Alabama, Clemson, South Carolina and many more. If you watch his film for 30 seconds, you’ll see how well he used his size. He demolishes defender in his path and holds up extremely well in pass protection. He doesn’t appear to be the most athletic prospect ever but that’s not shocking at that age and size. He does seem to move well laterally which is huge if he wants to play tackle in college. Commitment lean: He is currently listed as warm towards Clemson and South Carolina so getting in late is tough.
Bo Jackson- RB/SS Class of 2025
The unranked sophomore out of Ohio has a name that carries a lot of hype. As a 6′, 200 pound athlete, his skills on the field may do more talking than the name. He may not be a huge back, but he appears to have an impressive combination of power and speed. You can see on his tape that he knows what kind of back he is and doesn’t try to be something he isn’t. He has some wiggle but he definitely comes across as a downhill runner that does a good job of setting up blocks. Commitment lean: The sophomore currently has 7 offers with the biggest two being Ohio State and Penn State. He doesn’t have an official lean yet but Wisconsin getting in early could be huge if his recruitment takes off.
Kamden Laudenslager- Edge/OLB Class of 2025
Kamden is a 6’3″, 220 pound rusher from Maryland. The unranked sophomore appears to have a motor that never stops. He looks on the thinner side on tape but has the length and speed to rush the passer at a high level. It’ll be interesting to see if he ends up as a linebacker or on the line as he adds weight and strength. Another thing that stands out is his fire. Having that passion for the game while producing at a high level means his recruitment could take off at any time. Commitment lean: His biggest offers thus far are Tennessee, Penn State and Maryland so getting in now was a good time for the Badgers. They have had a ton of success with players like this.
Peyton Lewis- RB Class of 2024
Peyton is a 6’1″, 190 pound running back out of Virginia. He’s an unranked junior but according to his twitter, he’s the top sprinter in the state which could be why Wisconsin is getting involved. I wasn’t able to locate a hudl video for him or anything on youtube for highlights but he appears to have the size to play college football and his speed could make him a weapon in a Longo offense. Commitment lean: Peyton has a large list of offers but only Tennessee and South Carolina are huge names. Wisconsin has a history with east coast track stars.
Taylor Tatum- RB Class of 2024
The 4 star running back out of Texas stands at 5’10” and weighs in at 190 pounds. It doesn’t take long of watching Taylor’s tape to see why virtually every college in the country is after him. He has the speed to take every run to the house, he has the power to break tackles and the wiggle to make defenders wish they didn’t try and tackle him. On top of that, he also lines up as a receiver at times and has no issues bringing in passes. Commitment lean: This will be an interesting recruitment to watch as he has virtually every option at his disposal.
Wisconsin has been sending out a lot of offers recently and it seems like a lot of them have been going to offensive lineman and running backs. Fickle wants to win in the trenches, which is something Wisconsin has struggled with over the last few years. The emphasis on getting big bodies in is obvious. Keep an eye out for next weeks edition as offers are going out almost daily!
