The Wisconsin Badgers have prided themselves in how they operate both on and off the field.  Their student athletes usually go on to live extremely successful lives even after their playing days.

However, one story circulating around the internet is extremely concerning.

Our very own Rolly Gacelo initially covered the breaking news:

The Wisconsin Badgers women’s basketball team are struggling on the court and things could get heavier for them as the program gets embroiled in a scandal involving former player Tessa Towers who accuses program of mental health abuse while she was still with them.

Towers, who appeared in just four games for the Badgers and entered the transfer portal in 2023, joined the “You’re funny” trend on Tiktok where users justify their comedic demeanor by dumping their traumas.

The 6’5 center posted 14 slides of it, all of them about his time as a Badger under head coach Marisa Moseley.

She did not mention Moseley’s name but she used the word “my coach” in all the slides.

“My coach and staff said if I were to say anything remotely close to thoughts of su!c!de or de@+h to my therapist, I would be kicked off the team,” she wrote in one of the photos.

She also wrote that she was subjected to a number of rules that applied only to her.

She ended it by saying “I was forced to do a lot of things I didn’t want to do, but at least that experience helped me advocate for myself and mature.’”

Towers has now committed to the Ball State University‘s basketball program.

Badgers fans weren’t happy to see this report:

So when are we going to fire the AD? This is allowed to happen in WBB, the wrestling program is a dumpster fire, the football program is on the decline, etc.

    Exactly. Vindication.

Schools at ALL levels should concentrate on academic achievement, NOT sports. Things have become even more of a mess since equal scholarships were mandated for women. No one wants to watch women’s sports. The fair thing to do? End ALL sports in schools. They are by nature discriminatory, only those athletically gifted make the teams, even fewer get to play regularly. Replace sports teams with solid physical education programs that help to prepare every student for real life. Reward those who become outstanding in mathematics, science and other academic fields.
