The Wisconsin Badgers recently listed a familiar, yet surprising name to their graduate football staff. Collegiate staff are tiered with different levels of coaches and experience. The graduate assistants are looking to enter the coaching world, and former Ohio State linebacker Tuf Borland is doing just that with Wisconsin.
Former Badgers Rival Tuf Borland Joins Luke Fickell’s Staff
Tuf Borland, former Ohio State starting linebacker, is the son of former Wisconsin linebacker Kyle Borland. Borland recorded 229 total tackles, 19 for loss, and 6.5 sacks across four years at Ohio State. He also recorded two forced fumbles and two interceptions. As a player, Borland was known for launching himself into tackles and viciously taking down his opponents.
To some people, Borland may seem like he is too intense. However, he perfectly fits the mold that Coach Luke Fickell is trying to build, after all Fickell was the person who recruited him to Ohio State. The Badgers are turning into a more serious, hard-nosed football program under Luke Fickell. Borland embodies the kind of mentality and style of football that Coach Fickell wants to play.

The Badgers have not officially announced Borland joining the staff. Evan Flood of 247 Sports pointed out on Twitter that Borland had been added onto the Wisconsin Badgers football staff as a graduate defensive assistant. His name and position is listed on the Wisconsin website, but nothing further has been added yet. Borland will likely announce his new position soon through the university.
When the Badgers choose to announce his hiring, Borland will be a great addition. During his time at Ohio State, Borland was voted as the captain of the team three times. He was responsible for leading one of the best defensive units in the country for four years. Borland has the track record, and experience against the opponents Wisconsin must face. His expertise as an interior linebacker and tenacious football player will surely help boost the team.
