Packers Chiefs preview

In 2019, the Packers played the Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, with the expectation of an exciting matchup between Mahomes and Rodgers. Unfortunately, Mahomes was ruled out of that game with an injury. The Packers ended up winning 31-24. But this year, we got our wish. With the NFL expanding to 17 games, the NFL chose the Packers to meet the Cheifs again so we can finally witness this elite quarterback matchup. Or not. On Wednesday, Rodgers tested positive for COVID and was later found out to be unvaccinated. Throughout the sports world (and even the political one) the conversation…

Aaron Rodgers has produced 17 magical seasons for the Packers, inventing new ways to win football games. Now he will be part of a new way to be paid. The Packers just took down the undefeated Arizona Cardinals this Thursday, but it wasn’t pretty. Without their top three options at wide receiver, the offense wasn’t vertical. They couldn’t push the field like they usually do. So with the recent news of DeSean Jackson requesting a trade, it looks like the Packers might be a suitor. Jackson has struggled to get on the field this year for Los Angeles. He hasn’t had more than one catch in a game since Week 3. With receivers like Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods, and Van Jefferson, Jackson’s snaps have been sparse. So this week,…

After the Packer’s dramatic 24-21 win in Arizona Thursday, the team got horrible news. Starting tight end Robert Tonyan has a torn ACL. The Packers were already short-handed at the Wide Receiver positions. It showed on the field.  Rodgers only completed one pass beyond 10 yards (to Tonyan on the injured play). With Tonyan out the rest of the season, the question arises: Should the Packers trade for Evan Engram? A trade for Engram wouldn’t be expensive, even for a pro bowler from last year. Engram so far this year only has 20 receptions for 178 yards. Since the start…

The Packers have started 5-1 for the third straight season for Matt LeFleur. After the dud to start the season against the Saints, the Packers have won five straight. That’s including two games that came down to the wire versus the Bengals and 49ers. With a quarter of the season complete, let’s look at the Packers Grades individually through the season. Aaron Rodgers:  A After an awful start of the season versus the Saints, Rodgers has been lights out. Packer’s Second Round rookie Josh Myers was placed on Injured Reserve this afternoon. This comes after Myers injured his knee in the fourth quarter of the Packers win versus the Bears. The Packers selected Myers in the second round of this year’s 2021 NFL draft. Corey Linsley left in free agency this offseason, so Myers was taken to fill that void. Myers was the starting center five out of the first six games. He has been part of a young offensive line that has yet to allow more than three-sack in a game for Aaron Rodgers. With injuries early…

When Rodgers became the starter in 2008, a big responsibility was put on his shoulders. Winning a super bowl and getting an MVP was nice and all, but he was tasked with Bear hunting twice a year. Before Rodgers was drafted in 2005, Brett Favre had only lost four games against the Bears as a starter. Rodgers is currently 22-5 against the Bears 22-5… In some games Rodgers absolutely demolishes Chicago (like six touchdowns in one game) or has a flair for the dramatic, making the game close until the end. As we get ready for this week’s matchup against…

“How can you not be romantic about this game?” Sometimes I forget just how blessed we are as Packer fans to have someone like Aaron Rodgers. He not only slings the pigskin better than anyone on Earth but has fun while doing it. The Packers ended up winning a hard-fought game versus the San Francisco 49ers, beating them 30-28. They finally seem to have avenged the 2019 season where they lost in Santa Clara twice in embarrassing fashion. After re-watching the game, I had an overwhelming amount of takeaways (mainly positive), but have condensed them to the Packers Pros and…
