The Seattle Mariners recently pulled the trigger on a major trade with the Toronto Blue Jays.  In the trade Teoscar Hernandez was sent to the Mariners.  Seattle was willing to part ways with two pitchers.  Erik Swanson was one relievers involved and the other was prospect Adam Macko.  A day after this trade, reports are indicating that the Mariners are checking in on the availability of Brewers second baseman Kolten Wong.   Sources: #Mariners have inquired with #Brewers on availability of 2B Kolten Wong, who has 1 year left before free agency. Wong, a left-handed hitter, is coming off a career-high…

Corbin Burnes is no longer the reigning Cy Young champion.  It was announced earlier in the month that Burnes was snubbed being named a finalist.  Yesterday, the results were revealed.  In a unanimous vote, Sandy Alcantara of the Miami Marlins won the 2022 Cy Young Award.  Burnes ended up with 20 points, which equated to finishing in seventh place. In 2017 the Milwaukee Brewers drafted right-handed pitcher Dylan File.  He was selected in the 21st round out of Dixie State.  Prior to the minor league season being cancelled in 2020, he had worked his way up to the Double-A level.  Eventually, he was placed on the Brewers 40-man roster.  Unfortunately, he never made his MLB debut before being outrighted this past May.  Now, upon conclusion of the 2022 baseball season, he has been released by the Brewers and will pursue an opportunity in the Korea Baseball Organization. Very cool update. Hearing that @dylan_file was released by #Brewers in order…

MLB trade rumors are a hot topic right now in which Friday’s tender deadline plays a big factor in that.  This year the Brewers have a large arbitration class and they may put forth a large portion of their payroll to these players.  With that being said, Matt Arnold is also likely exploring other creative ways to reduce payroll while maintaining a winning product on the ball diamond.  One way he may be able to do that is by exploring a trade to obtain first baseman Jared Walsh.   Per the twitter page MLB Marathon, the Brewers, Cubs, and Rays have…

The Tampa Bay Rays are looking to be very active this week.  Their 40-man roster is full and they have a lot of good players to add.  Time is not on their side as the deadline to protect some valuable prospects is Tuesday afternoon.  The Rays have already traded Ji Man Choi to the Pirates for a pitching prospect, so the Brewers should be calling to inquire about who is available.  One particular player they should target used to play for them.  That is J.P. Feyereisen. Sources: #Rays are engaged in advanced trade negotiations ahead of Tuesday’s roster protection deadline.…

Hunter Renfroe

Last week, the Brewers did the opposite of what several fans thought would happen.  They picked up Kolten Wong’s 2023 option and declined Brad Boxberger’s.  With the deadline to protect Rule 5 draft eligible players and the tender deadline this week, odds are that Matt Arnold will make more surprising moves soon.  One idea that has been reported is the idea of trading away Hunter Renfroe.  MLB Trade Rumors and Buster Olney have commented on this possibility.  Olney also states that rival clubs have indicated this.    Hunter Renfroe in 2022: Adjusted OPS+ of 126 .807 OPS 29 homers With…

The deadline to offer arbitration eligible players contracts is Friday, November 18.  This year, the Brewers have the second highest number of arbitration eligible players in all of baseball.  In total, 18 players are eligible.  All together they are projected to command $79.9MM in salary.  It is unlikely that everyone is granted a contract.  With that being said, in this article we will cover three Brewers who could be non-tendered at this year’s deadline. 1) P Brent Suter – $3.1MM Projection Suter is currently the longest tenured player on the Brewers roster.  The 33 year old has been with the…

Last offseason the Brewers offered free agent Justin Turner a multi year contract. He ended up turning it down and returning to the Dodgers on a two year deal with an option for the 2023 season.  The Dodgers have elected to turn down the $16MM option.  This makes Turner a free agent for the second consecutive offseason.  That raises the question of will the Brewers pursue him again this offseason? The Los Angeles Dodgers have declined the 2023 option for two-time All-Star Justin Turner. — Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) November 10, 2022 Reports revealed last offseason that talks got very…
