The Milwaukee Brewers reached one of their season goals earlier as they became National League Central division champions.  They are locked into the three seed for the playoffs and will host the best of three games Wild Card Series that starts on Tuesday, October 3.  What we do not know yet is who they will be playing. On Saturday night the final two Wild Card teams in the Arizona Diamondbacks and Miami Marlins punched their tickets to the playoffs.  With one game to go in the regular season their post season positioning is still up for grabs.  Let’s take a…

The Milwaukee Brewers elected to bring back Eric Lauer to start Saturday night’s game against the Chicago Cubs.  Both games played so far this weekend have been entertaining baseball games. Friday night was the Caleb Boushley show that was capped off by a Carlos Santana walk-off and then Saturday night featured a ton of offense in what ended up being a 10-6 ball game. Unfortunately for Eric Lauer, who was looking to prove that he can contribute in 2024 and end this dreadful season off on a high note, he was tagged with eight earned runs that included a six…

The Milwaukee Brewers began the 2023 season with Matt Bush as their eighth inning set up man.  He burst onto the scene as a high leverage reliever with the Texas Rangers in 2022.  Milwaukee acquired him via trade last July in which they parted ways with pitching prospect Antoine Kelly and infielder Mark Mathias. Unfortunately his tenure with the Brewers was a rocky one.  In both 2022 and 2023 he struggled and Milwaukee elected to designate him for assignment prior to Independence Day.  He quickly re-joined the Texas Rangers organization by signing a minor league contract and now will be…

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Eric Lauer had previously been a key member of the team’s rotation over the past few seasons.  Unfortunately his start to 2023 was not ideal, he was on the injured list a few different times, and eventually he was optioned to the minor leagues. Shortly after being optioned he was placed on the temporarily inactive list.  The Brewers indicated that he was in Arizona at the Phoenix Complex, but did not share any other details as to why or what was happening for the couple of months he was there and not pitching in live games.…

The Milwaukee Brewers had a dramatic victory against the Chicago Cubs on Friday night in which Carlos Santana hit a walk-off and Caleby Boushely shined in his MLB debut.  This loss pushed the Cubs elimination number down to one.  In order to potentially finish Chicago’s season Milwaukee has announced that one starting pitcher will return after a long absence away from the big leagues. The Chicago Cubs are wrapping up their regular season at American Family Field against the Milwaukee Brewers.  Their playoff hopes are hanging on by a thread and the division rival that they are playing against already has a post season spot secured. While the Brewers and Cubs rivalry is fierce no matter what the two teams records are, Chicago fans did get upset over the latest blooper reel that was displayed on the jumbotron.  It featured several misplays from around the league that included Seiya Suzuki’s error against the Atlanta Braves. The Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs are in two different places entering the final weekend series of the regular season.  Milwaukee already has secured the third seed in the playoffs and will host the Wild Card Series starting on Tuesday.  Chicago has their backs against the wall and needs a lot to go right in order to make the post season. With the Brewers playoff position already secured they elected to skip both Brandon Woodruff and Freddy Peralta’s starts over the weekend.  This will allow them to get extra rest and will set up Brandon Woodruff to pitch in game…

The Milwaukee Brewers made a flurry of roster moves prior to starting the final regular season series of the year that is against the Chicago Cubs.  One of the players involved in the team’s transactions was veteran Julio Teheran.  He ended up being designated for assignment. Management’s decision to cut ties with Julio Teheran was a bit surprising.  Overall he had a good run with the Brewers and pitched to a 4.40 ERA.  He joined the team at the end of May, was spectacular his first six starts, fell upon some hard times, was placed on the injured, and the…

The Milwaukee Brewers signed a 33 year old pitcher to a minor league contract last off-season after he was solid overseas with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks of Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).  This pitcher had big league experience before signing with the Brew Crew, but had not yet accrued six years of MLB playing time. Six years of MLB playing time is important because that is when players are typically eligible to become free agents.  However, because he came from overseas there reportedly is language in his contract that will allow him to hit the open market this off-season instead of…

MLB News: The National League Wild Card race is a tight one in which the Miami Marlins and Chicago Cubs have the most favorable chances of securing the final spot in the post season.  Unfortunately for the Marlins their road to the playoffs potentially just got tougher as their game against the New York Mets was postponed until Monday, October 2 if necessary. A lot went down in the later stages of the Mets and Marlins game on Thursday night.  Miami, who was trailing one run to zero entering the ninth inning, took the lead by scoring two runs before…
