The 2022 Rule 5 draft will occur on December 7.  That is the final day of winter meetings.  It has been over five years since the Brewers last selected a player in the draft.  However, there is one intriguing option that is eligible to be drafted. It has been an interesting and slightly puzzling start to the Brewers first off-season under Matt Arnold.  The moves made so far do not show the full picture as towards his vision for how the team will look come opening day in 2023.  One odd sequence of events was trading Hunter Renfroe to the Angles and then a day later signing a young unproven outfielder in Blake Perkins. Willy Adames has made a name for himself since arriving in Milwaukee in May of 2021.  Over that time frame he’s hit 51 home runs, 57 doubles, slashed .256/.325/.483 and had a 122 OPS+. MLB free agency is underway.  There are a lot of big name players who have not signed with a team yet.  For teams that may be looking for bargain deals there are also a lot of under the radar players available as well.  In a recent article from R.J. Over the past two seasons, Pablo Reyes has had a few major league stints with the Brewers.  Overall he appeared in 59 games for the Brew Crew with just six coming in 2022.  Upon the conclusion of the 2022 season he was outrighted and elected free agency.  He now has signed a minor league deal with the Oakland Athletics.
