The Milwaukee Brewers were one of baseball’s best defensive teams in 2023.  They finished first overall in outs above average with 42 and second in defensive runs saved with 69.  With collectively excelling it would be reasonable to assume that multiple Brewers would be in contention for Gold Glove awards.  Unfortunately that is not the case as only Carlos Santana was named a finalist. Fans of the Milwaukee Brewers know former St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina quite well.  He logged 19 total seasons in St. Louis and then retired after the 2022 season.  According to one report the now 41 year old could soon return to the Red Birds and wear their jersey once again. The Milwaukee Brewers recently lost their former president of baseball operations David Stearns.  He voluntarily stepped down from his high ranking executive position last fall and handed the reins over to Matt Arnold.  Over the course of the next year David Stearns remained under contract with Milwaukee in an advisory role. Milwaukee Brewers rookie pitcher Abner Uribe had a tremendous first season in the big leagues.  He was called up a few days before the All-Star break and ended up appearing in 32 games.  It did not take long for him to earn manager Craig Counsell’s trust, he became a late inning high leverage option, and overall had a 1.76 ERA in 30.2 innings pitched. The Milwaukee Brewers may be in the market for starting pitchers this offseason.  Brandon Woodruff recently underwent shoulder surgery and may miss all of 2024, Wade Miley has a $10.0 MM mutual option, Adrian Houser is projected to make $5.6 MM in arbitration, and of course there is the dilemma of what to do with Corbin Burnes.
