The Packers defeated the Ravens Sunday afternoon 31-30, locking up the NFC North. Let’s take a look at the three things we learned in the victory versus the Ravens. Special Teams is Anything but Special The Packers special teams has been one of the worst rated units in the league all season. First year special teams coordinator Maurice Drayton has struggled to improve a lackluster unit. It was no different Sunday afternoon against the Ravens. A 35 yard kick off return by Amari Rodgers was erased by a block in the back penalty, that hurt their starting field position. The…

The Packers improve to 5-1 and take a strong hold on the North. Rushing Attack While Rodgers only threw for 195 yards on 23 attempts, the Packers rushed for 154 yards on 31 carries (4.96 average). Packers look right on Sunday

The Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday afternoon, at a foggy, rainy Lambeau Field. With a final of score of 27-17, the Packers move to 3-1 on the season and the Steelers move to 1-3. This was the first time the Packers defeated the Steelers in the regular season in 1995 (they had previously lost 5 straight). After embarrassing lost to the Saints to begin the season, the Packers looked right on Sunday against the Steelers. Stiff Defense The Steelers scored on their opening drive with a deep touchdown over the outstretched hands of cornerback Jaire Alexander to…

Stokes should start week one

The Green Bay Packers drafted defensive back Eric Stokes in the first round of the 2021 draft. Stokes started at corner at the University of Georgia, starting nine games and making second-team All-SEC in 2020. It has been nearly nine months since the loss to the Tampa Buccaneers in the NFC championship. The dismal play by Kevin King in the championship game resulted in the drafting of Stokes to be the replacement. King was brought back on a one-year deal to be the stopgap between Stokes taking the reigns as starter. King has been out most of training camp and…

Kelly will play an important role with the Packers

The Green Bay Packers signed veteran offensive tackle Dennis Kelly on July 29th. Kelly played for the Tennessee Titans in 2020, starting all 16 games for the first time in his career. He had played with the Titans since 2016 and was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2012. Kelly brings a veteran presence to a deep group at offensive line, but will play an important role as a potential swing-tackle. With the injuries to all-pro left tackle David Bahktiari and the uncertainty of the right tackle position, Kelly has the chance to play meaningful snaps in 2021 for the…

The Packers could use a veteran leader like KJ Wright in the middle of the defense.

We are now two weeks past the 2021 NFL Draft. Once again, the Packers did not address the inside linebacker issue until the 6th round when they selected Isaiah McDuffie out of Boston College. McDuffie will be a development prospect at best who can help contribute on special teams. There is promise currently on the roster with Krys Barnes and Kamal Martin. Both are only second year players, and while flashed potential in 2020, left a lot desired on the field. There are still veterans in the free agency market who could help teams fill wholes left by the draft.…
