What can you say after losing a 10 point lead to a team you were favored (by 8) to beat? What can you say about a defense that comes in like a limp noodle & once again makes ZERO adjustments to a simple gameplan? What can you say about an offense that seems to fix what isn’t broke? What can you say about ZERO inspiration coming from a head coach who sounds like a cliché-filled skipping record after another loss that falls directly at his feet? What can you say about a quarterback who’s being paid like he’s the MVP…

Chryst Rodgers

On this week’s Wickett ON Wisconsin podcast, I had to discuss 2 things: The Packers & that win (it WAS a win) over New England and the firing of Paul Chryst.  Both of these were shocking. Green Bay shouldn’t be in a game THAT CLOSE vs a 3rd string, ROOKIE quarterback AT LAMBEAU FIELD…but you know what? It’s the NFL and NOTHING is certain. Green Bay is now 3-1, the defense looks championship caliber (at least the pass defense does) and the offense is improving (just not that 1st half of deep balls from Aaron Rodgers). Even MORE shocking than…

If you know me, you know I’m a fan first. I watch Green Bay Packers games just like you. I see what I see just like you see what you see. I have opinions, just like you do. What I DON’T do (mostly because I have 3 toddlers and don’t have the time), is watch hours and hours of film. I wish I did. Enter: my teammate here at Wisconsin Sports Heroics, Sam Holman. Sam is our resident film nerd and he joined me for the podcast this week to discuss what HE sees after 3 games for the Packers.…

As you’ve heard me say before, I’m not freaking out early in the Packers season. With all of those questions that I discussed on last week’s podcast still lingering, I’ll admit I was SLIGHTLY worried going into the Bears game this week. And I may have gotten “antsy” after the Packers settled for 3 and then watched Chicago march right down the field for a touchdown early in the game. Then, all of a sudden, I wasn’t. Why? Because something may have clicked for this team that I’ve been hoping to see (and maybe yelling about about) since Davante Adams got…

First of all, don’t do this Packers fans:  OK…OK…so that wasn’t exactly how we all wanted the Packers season to start, was it? But while we’re all frustrated with the inexperience, the quarterback’s lack of chemistry with his teammates, the play-calling, the in-flux offensive line and WHAT IN THE HELL WERE THEY DOING DEFENSIVELY?!?!…I urge every Packers fan to remain calm…at least for a few weeks. EVERYONE is making the same comparison to the 1st week of the 2021 season. While it’s not the same exact situation, the concept of NOT going overboard after a week 1 loss THIS season…

One thing I love about an NFL season is how fluid and changing it can be. SEE: Joe Barry’s defense in 2021. With so many questions coming into training camp (Davante Adams GONE, Bakhtiari & Jenkins ACL’s, rookies ALL OVER), and so many still to be answered (cuz nobody played in the preseason), I need to warn you: What you see in week 1 WON’T be what you see in weeks 5, 8, 12 or 17. It never is. On this week’s “Wickett ON Wisconsin” podcast, I wanted to make sure you know what’s coming in the 1st quarter of…

This week’s podcast was SUPPOSED to be a quick hitter: Five Green Bay Packers headlines coming out of the 3 preseason games and I was hoping to do it in ten minutes. Well, that didn’t happen. I went over. So it’s “5 in 10(ish).  Normally I think these preseason games are useless (and you shouldn’t have to pay full ticket prices for them) but in the case of the 2022 Green Bay Packers, there was some REAL intrigue to me that’s unfolded in camp & then onto the field.  So before the 53 man roster gets announced, check out my…

On this week’s “Wickett ON Wisconsin” podcast, I discuss two things: 1 – The ridiculous overreaction to Aaron Rodgers’ comments about young wide receivers. SPOILER ALERT: It was a NOTHINGBURGER. 2 – WSSP’s death. If you knew me from a previous life, you know that I was part of 1250 AM WSSP’s morning show in Milwaukee for about a decade. Learning that WSSP is no longer a local sports talk station in Milwaukee REALLY hurt me. I needed to talk about the good things that I’ll always remember from my time there. I hurt for my friends that still work…

It was glorious just to have Packers football back last Friday, wasn’t it? I mean, here’s me on my deck, watching the game, with a beverage on a BEAUTIFUL August evening. <— HAPPY MAN RIGHT HERE. (Love threw the TD pass to Romeo Doubs right after this pic was taken) In all honesty, unless something terrible happened in the game, nothing was going to spoil my night. And you know what? Nothing terrible happened. Despite what half of your social media says, Jordan Love played pretty well. Romeo Doubs showed some strengths & also some weaknesses in his 2022 debut.…

Season 3 of “Wickett ON Wisconsin” is here and it’s time to kick if off by discussing 3 of the storylines that jump out to me from Packers training camp! NOTE: There are at least a dozen storylines but that would be a 2 1/2 hour podcast…and nobody’s doing a 2 1/2 hour podcast unless you’re the guy discussing Aaron Rodgers doing ayahuasca. I’ll have more next week. Maybe these Wide Receivers won’t be so bad! Rodgers & the “new” offense Jordan Love looks like he can play (finally)  BONUS: So happy for my friend, Leroy Butler Check out my FULL…
