The Green Bay Packers took Tariq Carpenter in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft.  Carpenter primarily played at Safety during his Georgia Tech Career, 52 games.  However the Packers will have him start his NFL career at the inside linebacker position. “Tariq, we’re going to move him to the inside linebacker room. He’s a big guy, but he can run,” coach Matt LaFleur said during his interview. Carpenter fits the profile of a hybrid safety/linebacker. He’s 6-3 and 230 pounds but ran the 40-yard dash in 4.52 seconds (1.55-second 10-yard split) and posted elite numbers in the vertical…

The Green Bay Packers moved up in the second round to take Christian Watson of the 2022 NFL Draft.  In doing so they picked, what the Packers hope to be, the wide receiver of the future in Green Bay.  Earlier this week Ross Uglem of the Bison Report appeared on the Locked on Packers Podcast to discuss this pick.  In doing so, he dropped an INSANE. During Christian Watson’s four year college career he accumulated 105 receptions, 2,139 receiving yards, and 14 touchdowns.  Over four years that doesn’t seem like much, however NDSU is a run heavy school.  How run…

The Green Bay Packers drafted 11 players in total in the 2022 NFL Draft.  The first two rounds address three of the thinest positions on the roster.  ILB, DT, and WR.  However the impact that that those three will have is just the beginning.  Here are the five rookies who will have an immediate impact on the Packers’ season: LB Quay Walker: The Packers needed depth at inside linebacker desperately.  After re-signing De’Vondre Campbell the Packers needed one more ILB to pair with him.  Quay Walker is an off the ball linebacker with elite athleticism and speed. While he may take…

Just days before the draft it was reported that the Packers were trying to trade for Raiders’ tight end Darren Waller.  That seemed to quickly fall through as no deal got done.  However the this report reenforced the questions that the Packers have at tight end, long term. Robert Tonyan was brought back on a one year “prove it” deal after tearing his ACL in 2021.  In 2020 Tonyan had a record breaking year for Green Bay.  He finished with 52 catches and almost 600 receiving yards that year.  However the 11 touchdowns he had in 2020 were the most…

The overall feeling among Packers fans on social media is that they loved the draft.  Addressing the defense as well as the offensive line, not to mention grabbing their wide receiver of the future.  Not only did they trade up for Christian Watson, but they drafted a total of three wide receivers.  However if the season started today, Green Bay would still may be hard-pressed to identify their number one wide receiver. Allen Lazard has shown that he can be extremely consistent as Rodgers’ go to guy.  He has the highest passer rating when targeted since 2019 (WRs)  (129.0).  However…

Quite possibly the best value pick of the draft goes the Packers 5th round pick, defensive end Kingsley Engabare. Enagbare was PFF’s 52nd ranked player going into the draft, yet the Packers were able to get him with the 179th pick. Many mock drafts has him going in the 3rd round with some even going in the 2nd. Not only did the Packers get him in the 5th, the Packers even traded back and acquired an additional 7th round pick in the process. Enagbare’s fall is largely due to his poor performance at the combine and South Carolina pro day. …

Since the beginning of the 2022 off-season, DK Metcalf’s name has been floated around as a trade target.  Those rumors really picked up after Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos.  Since then there have been reports of Seattle listening to offers, but nothing imminent.  Today on the Shay Shay Podcast DK Metcalf addressed these rumors: “We’re going to get something done.  I think I’m gonna be in Seattle for the next coming years.” https://twitter.com/PFF/status/1521526757349904386?s=20&t=TLtJYEhEt_vkGbWS33I7iw There is still a lot of work that needs to get done if Seattle wants to re-sign DK Metcalf.  Additionally, some question the logic…
