Fantasy football has been compared to the stock market. And while I’m no expert in stocks and bonds, explaining the concept of sell high and buy low is pretty straight forward. Basically, you have to figure out if the hype, or on the contrary, a negative narrative surrounding a player, is real or not. Sell High: You have rostered a player who has looked studly in the first few weeks of the year. You establish that said player has overachieved and already reached their ceiling, therefore you will sell off to improve your team in another area. Buy Low: There’s…

Please, for everything that is sacred in fantasy football, don’t be the owner who overreacts after Week 1 has concluded.  It honestly makes me sad to see when an owner panics after a loss, makes a wrong call on a start/sit and now overcorrects, and/or trades a guy because of one underperformance. Don’t. Just don’t. Think of it this way – you’ve probably started 0-1 before and made the playoffs. We all have. There’s even an extra week of regular season fantasy football this year, too. So, in the immortal words of Aaron Rodgers, R-E-L-A-X. With that being said, there are…

Most, but not all, dynasty rookie drafts are over. If you used my Top 30 dynasty rookie rankings as a reference, well, thanks – and also, sorry. Why sorry? Well, I warned you from the start these rankings are fluid. And, oh boy, have they changed.  RANKING CHANGE FACTORS I purposely waited as long as I could to make what is potentially my final rookie ranking list heading into the 2021 NFL season.  Prior to watching rookies in live NFL action, I was simply going off of my own evaluation, keeping in mind which team drafted them, their draft capital,…

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Dynasty is the best format of fantasy football. You’re building the team how you want to, scouting college players who will soon turn pro, and diving into the depths of NFL rosters. It’s literally 12 months a year. So fun! One of my personal favorite parts of dynasty is finding stash players.  If you’re playing in a competitive league, there aren’t really any “sleepers.” But there’s something to be said about using a late-round rookie draft pick on a future stud, or combing the waiver wire to stash a player nobody…

Here’s a scenario nearly every dynasty fantasy football owner goes through: The season has ended and you’re looking to scratch an itch by trading for a player you love. Player X is your target, but you think he’ll be too expensive since he ended the year high in the rankings. You click on the player’s profile, and shockingly, they finished well below where you thought. So, you offer a trade in line with the value. The other owner says not even close. Really? For a guy who’s good, but was an average fantasy player? Uggghhh. Folks, this is literally Terry…

I don’t know about you, but there are times where acronyms, numbers, and general data overwhelm me. There’s a growing trend in the fantasy industry of analytics, and unfortunately you are looked at as a bit ignorant if you don’t know what true catch rate is, or how to grade prospects.  My suggestion would be to learn and read about what you value the most in a fantasy football player, and ignore the rest. Sift through the madness, if you will. I’m also old school, so I don’t mind using my eyes and instincts to come to decisions. That sermon…

Every year in the fantasy football world, there are players who end a season ranked way higher than where they were drafted. Usually, an owner’s immediate thought is, “I should have seen that coming.” It’s easy to say that in hindsight.  Nobody, not even the best fantasy football analysts, could have predicted a Christian McCaffrey injury that led to his back up, Mike Davis, finishing as a back end RB1 (12 overall) in PPR (Points Per Reception) formats. James Robinson (7 overall), and Nyheim Hines (15 overall) are a couple more running back names that snuck by everyone. But it’s…

The offseason news of Aaron Rodgers and his potential holdout has thrown fantasy football owners into a frenzy. However, it’s not because Rodgers himself is a must-own, can’t-miss fantasy quarterback. It’s because of everyone else on the Packers’ offense he could impact with his absence – including Davante Adams. Right after the news broke about Rodgers wanting out in Green Bay, WSH’s Chris Buboltz wrote about the potential fantasy impact for players in Green and Gold.  I am going to look specifically at Adams, as he is the biggest fantasy asset on the Packers offense. Does his value really take…

Any competent dynasty fantasy owner is in-the-know during the off-season. But when it comes to post-NFL draft, they become hyper aware. Just before the draft commenced, I published my Top 30 Dynasty Rankings. Now that the annual draft festivities are well in the rear view mirror, those rankings have been changed, changed again, and then changed double. FACTORS There are a handful of factors that came into play while adjusting the rankings. Rookies didn’t all of a sudden become less talented. However, their situations obviously changed. By situations, I mean the team/organization they were selected by, draft capital spent by…

There’s an undeniable – and unavoidable – link between the NFL Draft and dynasty fantasy football. In contrast to standard redraft leagues, dynasty leagues and owners salivate about the draft every year. The nuance of knowing the right fits for certain players selected by certain teams can make an average owner a great one. Certainly what round a player is taken in matters, but even more important is the landing spot.  When all was said and done over the three day, seven round NFL draft held in Cleveland, the consensus among the dynasty community could be summed up in one…
