The sectionals begin for volleyball this Thursday night with games being played at 5 and 7PM. Division 1 has some big time matchups, but the five spotlighted in this article all belong to Division 2 and below. Thursday is a huge night for volleyball as it sets up the Sectional Championship games on Saturday night! Division 2 – Sectional 1 West Salem vs. Platteville With just the #2, #4, #5, and #6 seeds remaining in Sectional 1, anything can happen. West Salem hasn’t lost a set so far in the tournament. They sent #1 Dodgeville packing in straight sets, even…
With the sectionals beginning on Thursday, October 27th, it’s important to look at which top teams are remaining. There were some big upsets from Saturday night’s regional finals! Division 1 #6 West Bend East def. #3 Hartford Union #5 Kaukauna def. #4 Bay Port #5 Watertown def. #4 Slinger Division 2 #4 Barron def. #1 Baldwin-Woodville #5 West Salem def. #1 Dodgeville #6 Platteville def. #2 River Valley #3 McFarland def. #2 Lakeside Lutheran #3 Wisconsin Lutheran def. #2 New Berlin West #4 New…
While the score indicates a very lopsided affair, Bay Port had to battle through a rocky first half. The Pirates are undoubtedly one of, if not the best team in Division 1. They earned the #1 seed, they earned home field advantage, but they also had to earn this victory over the Redbirds. The First Drive Bay Port won the coin toss and decided to defer, but little did they know they wouldn’t receive the ball until there were less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter. De Pere put together a lengthy, time-consuming drive where they converted on…
On Friday, October 21st, the Wisconsin State High School Football playoffs began. All but one playoff game was played on Friday night. One seed Prairie du Chien and Omro play on Saturday, October 22nd at 4PM. Other than that, let’s take a look at which (if any) powerhouse teams went down in Level 1! Division 1 #6 Appleton North def. #3 Chippewa Falls 13-0 #7 Marquette def. #2 Verona 3-0 Division 2 #6 Kaukauna def. #3 Milwaukee King 35-19 #6 Burlington def. #3 Waterford 27-14 Division 3 #7 Notre Dame def. #2 Reedsburg 24-7 Division 4 #6 St. Croix Central…
The Regional Finals are set to begin on Saturday, October 22nd for high school volleyball, but they’ll begin with one top seed missing. There weren’t a ton of upsets in Thursday night’s regional volleyball action, however, one of which leaves a sectional in Division 4 wide open. Let’s take a look at the biggest upsets from Thursday night! Division 1 #10 Superior def. #7 Menominee NOTE: #3 Muskego vs. #6 Kenosha Indian Trail will be played at 1PM on Saturday Division 2 #6 Platteville def. #3 Wisconsin Dells Two #5 Seeds Advanced: Shawano and West Salem NOTE: #4 Port Washington…
On Tuesday night, the Wisconsin state volleyball tournament began with a bang. Divisions 2 through 4 began regional action, and the games did not disappoint. Multiple one and two seeds were happy to sit out as there were a few big upsets that changed the landscape for the rest of the tournament. Division 2 #12 St. Croix Central def. #5 Altoona #10 Plymouth def. #7 Little Chute #10 Antigo def. #7 Lakeland #11 Colombus def. #6 Portage #10 Turner def. #7 Evansville Division 3 #10 Cumberland def. #7 Cameron #10 Crandon def. #7 Crivitz Division 4 #9 Prairie Farm def.…
Two Rivers had high expectations coming into the season, and it’s safe to say they didn’t disappoint. The Raiders finished the season with a perfect 9-0 record, 7-0 in the Eastern Wisconsin Conference. It all came down to Two Rivers and Chilton this past Friday night in a game that will be remembered for years to come. After a scoreless first quarter, it became clear that this game wasn’t going to be a shootout. Two Rivers trailed 14-7 at the half, and the score remained as such heading into the fourth quarter. The Raiders struck first, about four minutes into…
Bay Port’s toughest challenge of the season came this Friday against West De Pere. Both teams came into the matchup undefeated, but only one could remain with a perfect record and come out as the FRCC North Conference Champions. The two teams came into the matchup with very different offenses. West De Pere loves to throw the ball while Bay Port didn’t throw a single pass in the first half. Duke Shovald, quarterback for West De Pere, nearly threw the ball three times as many as Cole Bensen. Thankfully for Bay Port, Cole Bensen is one of the most explosive…
This year, the volleyball state tournament will be held from November 3rd-5th at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Last season, the one seeds in Division 1 and Division 2 took home the crown while the two seeds did so in Division 3 and 4. Will history repeat itself? Division 1 Last year’s runner up, Appleton North once again draws a one seed. Appleton North is joined by Chippewa Falls in Sectional 1/2 of the bracket. The defending state champ, Oconomowoc, remains a one seed in Sectional 4. Waunakee finds themselves on the other side as the top seed…
After a disappointing 17-0 shutout loss to Reedsville in the Division 7 State Championship game last season, Coleman came out swinging. The Cougars are an impressive 9-0 and dominated everyone who stepped in-front of them in conference play. Coleman is once again the Northwoods Conference Champions. The Northwoods Conference has plenty of credible opponents. Crivitz is a Division 6 squad that has a 7-2 overall record and drew a #3 seed in the Division 6 playoffs. Coleman beat Crivitz in the first conference game of the year, 28-6. It’s hard to believe, but that 22-point margin of victory was the…
