Andrew Thomas will be staying with the New York Giants for the long haul. On
Wednesday morning, general manager Joe Schoen signed Thomas to a 5-year contract extension worth up to $117.5 million. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Andrew Thomas will get an offensive lineman record of $67 million guranteed.
Andrew Thomas Inks Contract Extension With New York Giants
This contract will be through the 2029 season and was confirmed by John Thornton of Roc Nation Sports to ESPN:

This was a huge move for the New York Giants because Andrew Thomas is one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL. He was drafted fourth overall (first-round selection) in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Georgia. Former general manager Dave Gettleman originally selected Thomas. Gettleman has received his fair share of criticism in the past from this fan base.
This was not the first noticeable contract extension that the New York Giants made this offseason. General manager Joe Schoen also gave contract extensions to quarterback Daniel Jones and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and also brought back running back Saquon Barkley on a one-year deal.
Barkley and Andrew Thomas have the same agents and Thomas received way more money than Barkley did. The left tackle position in the NFL is way more valuable to NFL teams than the running back position is.
The Best Left Tackle From 2020?
There were many doubters about Andrew Thomas from the 2020 NFL Draft class. Thomas was selected ahead of Tristan Wirfs of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mekhi Becton of the New York Jets, and Jedrick Wills Jr. of the Cleveland Browns. The other three have yet to ink a second contract with their respective teams.
Despite all of the criticism from Dave Gettleman, he got the Andrew Thomas pick right. Thomas spoke about signing his contract with the New York Giants:
