Perhaps not many people remember that before he became a star for the Milwaukee Bucks, Khris Middleton was a talent that the Detroit Pistons took a chance on back in the 2012 NBA Draft. That year, Middleton was taken in the second round by the Pistons as the 39th overall pick. Over a decade later, Middleton boasts of an impressive NBA career that includes three All-Star nods and an NBA ring. Middleton is not done yet, as he continues to play a big role for the Bucks, a serious title contender in the 2023-24 NBA season.
Milwaukee Bucks HC Adrian Griffin Gives Khris Middleton Props After Win vs. Pistons
Middleton has indeed come a long way, and after he scored 26 points to help Milwaukee beat the Detroit Pistons on the road Monday night, Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin made sure to highlight the admirable career of the 32-year-old forward in the NBA.
Via ESPN:
“It’s remarkable when you think about him being the 38th pick in the draft. It is a testament to what being a pro is all about,” Griffin said. “It takes a lot to come from where he started — he was drafted right here by the Pistons — to where he is now, an NBA champion.”
Although Giannis Antetokounpo is still the best player on the Bucks roster, Middleton’s importance to the squad can’t be overlooked. Even with Damian Lillard on the team, Middleton remains a considerable presence for the Milwaukee Bucks, who acquired the former Texas A&M Aggies star from the Pistons in 2013 via a trade.
So far in the 2023-24 NBA campaign, Middleton is averaging 14.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.9 assists in 25.7 minutes per outing.
