According to ESPN senior writer Adam Schefter, the Denver Broncos will not trade Jerry Jeudy. The 23-year-old University of Alabama product has been heavily discussed as a potential trade target of the Packers. Now in his third year as a professional, Jeudy was taken 15th overall in the 2020 draft and has been viewed as a disappointment in Denver due to inconsistently and underperforming.
Developing Jeudy could entice Rodgers
As the highest draft pick Denver ever used on a wide receiver, Jeudy was immediately met with uncanny expectations from Broncos fans. Jeudy has endured four different Quarterbacks in three years with the Broncos; Drew Locke, Brett Rypien, Teddy Bridgewater, and Russell Wilson.
2022 with Russell Wilson as Quarterback, appears to be Jeudy’s breakout year. Jerry Jeudy staying put is unfortunate for the Packers. They are in a position of desperation due to a lack of depth at the receiver position. The combination of Rodgers/Jeudy could provide a short-term solution and simultaneously entice Aaron Rodgers to hold off on retirement a bit longer.
Trade Deadline Nov. 1st
The price will undoubtedly rise as doors close on prospective receiving options for the Packers. The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 1st, at 4 pm eastern time. Sunday, the Packer’s rotation at wide receiver consisted of Romeo Doubs, Samori Toure, Amari Rodgers, Christian Watson, and Sammy Watkins. Romeo Doubs had flashes of brilliance, catching the Packer’s first score of the contest. Still, it’s clear Doubs is continuing to develop. He’s not a number-one option at wideout, and Sunday, the Packer’s passing game suffered for it. Even on Doub’s TD catch, it didn’t appear Doubs had created enough separation. Rodgers just made a brilliant throw.
I heavily expect the Pack to make a move before Tuesday’s deadline. If not, I don’t expect to see Brian Gutekunst as the general manager of the Packers in the Spring of 2023, and this season could get uglier. As steadfast as Rodgers has been as a Packer, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him call it a career at the end of 2022 if the Packers don’t go out and get him help. Jerry Jeudy isn’t it.
