Just when you thought that Aaron Rodgers was for sure headed to the New York Jets, things may be getting more interesting. The Green Bay Packers appear to have hit a small snag when it comes to working out the trade with the Jets when it comes to the money aspect of things. It’s likely not a big enough snag to halt a potential trade, but it is something to keep a close eye on.
Also, there is a new report that the Jets could have some competition for Rodgers. At least, Rodgers would be willing to entertain a trade for another certain team.
Granted, there is no question that the Jets are likely going to trade for Rodgers. Barring a change of heart from Rodgers and the Packers to keep him in place for another season or him simply choosing to retire, playing in New York is a very likely possibility.
All of that being said, could another team consider getting in on the Rodgers’ sweepstakes?
Aaron Rodgers Would Entertain A Trade To The Carolina Panthers
According to a report from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Rodgers would entertain the idea of being traded to the Panthers. He also notes that the Panthers are not in on talks right now, but that could potentially change.
Fowler: “I think Rodgers would entertain Carolina, but Carolina isn’t getting involved.”

Carolina has been searching for a true quarterback over the last few years and Rodgers would be about as good as it can get. However, the Panthers will likely opt to take a young quarterback in the 2023 NFL Draft. If they want to push to compete now though, they could change their minds and go after Rodgers.
Frank Reich is the new head coach in Indianapolis and would likely love to have the opportunity to coach a quarterback like Rodgers. The only issue for Carolina would be, can they put together a championship contender around the longtime superstar for the 2023 season?

DJ Moore would be a nice upgrade for Rodgers at the No. 1 wide receiver spot. Carolina also has quality pieces on offense including young wide receiver Terrace Marshall Jr. and running back Chuba Hubbard. They would need to add another wide receiver or two and possibly a better tight end if they acquired Rodgers.
Let’s be completely real about the situation, which is the fact that the Jets are in a much better position to offer Super Bowl contention to Aaron Rodgers than the Panthers. We’ll also talk about the fact that the Panthers need to plan for the future as well, which is not what a move for Rodgers would be.
Expect to continue hearing news and rumors come out about Aaron Rodgers in the coming days. The Packers seem likely to move on from him this offseason and it’s likely that the Jets will get him. But, no one should completely count out another team like the Panthers just yet.
