It seems everyone has an idea for an Aaron Rodgers trade these days. Every analyst and fan is trying to propose the solution that finally gets this thing done. ESPN’s Bill Barnwell did an all-trades mock draft and of course, the Jets’ pick involved a Rodgers trade. He floats the idea of a three-team trade that gets the deal done.
Aaron Rodgers Trade: Three-Team Trade Gets Deal Done
The Seattle Seahawks become the third team that helps facilitate this deal. Here’s the framework that Barnwell proposes.
Jets get: QB Aaron Rodgers, 3-78 (from GB), 1-20 (from SEA)
Packers get: 1-13, 2024 third-round pick (conditional, from NYJ)
Seahawks get: 2-42 (from NYJ), 2-45 (from GB)
Essentially, Green Bay gives up a second and third-round pick for Rodgers. The Jets are willing to give up the 13th pick because they receive the 20th pick from Seattle. The Seahawks have the fifth overall pick and essentially trade the 20th pick for two second-rounders. Depending on how Rodgers plays, the Packers also receive a conditional pick from the Jets. It is a trade that seems fair for all teams.

Is It Good For Green Bay Specifically?
The Packers would get the 13th and 15th picks and then not pick until the fourth round in this Aaron Rodgers trade scenario. Obviously, GM Brian Gutekunst could look to trade up but as it stands, it is a huge gap in picks. Here’s my concern. This draft is not very deep. The difference between the players projected at 13 and 15 versus the players at 42 and 45 is minimal in my opinion. I would personally prefer missing out on the 13th pick this year in an Aaron Rodgers trade and acquiring more second and third-round picks.

Will an Aaron Rodgers trade happen before the draft? This is the hope of both fan bases but there does not seem to be much urgency from the front offices. Both the Packers and Jets (and Rodgers) seem content in waiting for this thing out. The saga continues and I think I speak for every fan when I say we are ready for this to be done.
