Packers get good value for Aaron Rodgers in mock draft
The New York Jets have already inquired about trading for Aaron Rodgers. A new mock draft simulates what the Packers first round class would look like if the two parties agree to a trade. One would think the Packers would have started to rebuild for Jordan Love immediately if Aaron Rodgers were traded.
Packers add help at skilled positions
The 33rd Team scouting department came up with a new mock draft scenario on Monday. Their scouting department is comprised of former NFL scouts and personnel executives. In their new draft scenario, the Packers trade Aaron Rodgers to the Jets. The Packers then have the 13th and 15th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
With the 13th pick the Packers receive from the Jets, the 33rd Team has them choosing cornerback Devon Witherspoon (The 33rd Team misspelled Witherspoon.):
“Green Bay picks here after it sends send Rodgers to the New York Jets. The Packers pick the most physical, versatile corner in the draft. Weatherspoon (scouting report) can play in the slot as well as outside.”
Two selections later, the Packers choose wide receiver Jordan Addison:
“The Green Bay Packers pick the most polished wide receiver in the draft class. Addison (scouting report) brings speed and outstanding route savvy. “
Addison would be a perfect candidate to help Jordan Love as the starting quarterback next season. He would create a young and dynamic trio with Christian Watson and Romeo Doubs.
The secondary could use depth, but choosing Witherspoon over a defensive lineman might be a waste of resources. The Packers need help at the defensive line and pass rusher positions. The secondary is already good and would be much better with a good pass rush. With the Packers’ limited cap space, getting a premium player at that position would probably be too costly in free agency. They’ll need to draft help at those positions.
