Aaron Rodgers was surprised by a few Green Bay Packer roster moves
The Green Bay Packers are Aaron Rodgers’ team. With him, the team has a chance to win a Super Bowl this season. Without him, they will be lucky to make the playoffs. That’s what being an MVP talented athlete can mean to a team. Rodgers’ skills on the field are necessary for the team’s ultimate success, but sometimes the team’s most challenging and season-defining decisions aren’t in his hands.
Some of those decisions rest with Packers’ general manager Brian Gutekunst. The past week Gutekunst has been tasked with piecing together the Packers roster for the regular season. He’s had to trim much of the proverbial fat that comes with training camp and with the 53-man roster deadline—some of those decisions are at odds with Rodgers’ vision for the 2022 Packers.
Recent reports indicate that Rodgers was unhappy with the Packers releasing Juwann Winfree. Rodgers has been vocal about roster cuts in the past. On Friday, a report came out that Rodgers was perplexed with another Packers’ roster decision. This time it was about the offensive line unit.
Rodgers wanted UDFA Caleb Jones to make the roster
Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated wrote that Rodgers wanted offensive tackle Caleb Jones to make the team’s 53-man roster. Rasheed Walker beat out Jones. Here are some of Rodgers’ comments about the move:
“We know that, at times, it’s not a meritocracy,” Rodgers said…
I thought Caleb had a great camp and deserved to be on the 53,” Rodgers said. “Lucky to get him back on the p-squad. Looks like he has a bright future in this league. You can’t teach that kind of size. But, take the 6-9, 340 out of the way, the way that he worked from spring to fall camp and then throughout fall camp, he has what it takes to be a player in this league. I told him that a couple weeks ago.”
Aaron Rodgers has earned the right to have his voice heard
Rodgers is the man who’s going to be asked to play with whatever group Gutekunst puts out there. Rodgers’ play record indicates he deserves the right to at least speak his mind on roster moves. Even if Gutekunst reserves the ultimate decision to make the move he feels is best for the Packers. Interestingly, Rodgers’ feelings didn’t impact this year’s roster more than they maybe should have.
Rodgers is already playing without Davante Adams. Adams was a security blanket that would have made his life easier this year. As crucial as Rodgers is to the team, one would think the Packers management would be more willing to give Rodgers the tools he thinks are best on offense. After all, Rodgers has proven he’s the expert in his field.

Give it a rest fool, ain’t nothing to see here. You’re trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Must be a slow news today. Hopefully when the real games start you idiots will quit this trying to create controversy ridiculousness and start writing real stories, but I thought the se thing when the offseason officially ended with the opening of training camp, so I won’t hold my breath. RIP Journalism.
Amen Brother. Rogers hasn’t won when he did have what he wanted. He’s already retired.
