Aaron Rodgers: Former Packers Players Calls Out Rob Gronkowski

Aaron Rodgers has drawn some criticism for his comments on The Pat McAfee Show this week. During his interview, Rodgers stated that he believes that he can still win MVP in the right situation. He also stated that there is no reason for him to return unless he can compete for a Super Bowl. Future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski chose to focus on Rodgers’ comments about winning MVP. Gronkowski criticized Rodgers, saying that he should be more worried about Super Bowls than individual awards. Yesterday, a former Packers player took to Instagram to defend Rodgers.

Kevin King Defends Aaron Rodgers

Former Green Bay Packers defensive back Kevin King may not have been the most popular player, but by all account he was always a good teammate and “carried the G.” When he heard about Gronkowski’s comments about Aaron Rodgers, he had to say something:

As King points out, it takes much more than a MVP quarterback to win a Super Bowl. One would think that Gronkowski, who has won multiple Super Bowls, would understand that. King states: “One thing [Aaron Rodgers] does know, for a fact, is the level of play it takes to win a MVP (4). And only he knows if he can consistently reach that level of play, which is [what] he spoke on. Winning a Super Bowl is not a direct correlation to who has the most talented team. It’s way too many moving parts. Y’all psyched out, but what else is new?”

Rodgers, for better or worse, is constantly under the microscope. The national media is quick to take a phrase from his interviews and twist it around to fit the narrative that they want to have about him. King called them, specifically Gronkowski, out on this in his post.

You know, for all the talk nationally of Aaron Rodgers being a bad teammate, it sure is interesting to see a former player come to his defense.
