Aaron Rodgers may actually suit up and start for the New York Jets this season.
The former Packers’ star QB ruptured his Achilles on Sept. 11, just four plays into his career with the New York Jets. He got surgery on Sept. 13.
This sort of injury typically takes professional athletes around nine months to return to play. Yet remarkably, Rodgers appears to be way ahead of that timeline, and recently returned to practice with the Jets.
Report Says Aaron Rodgers Will Be Cleared To Play Christmas Eve
A report from TMZ on Monday afternoon almost doesn’t seem real.
“N.Y. Jets fans may have an early Christmas present under the tree … a healthy Aaron Rodgers, who our sources tell us is expected to be cleared medically for game action before Gang Green’s December 24 contest against the Commanders,” the report states.
Despite being given the go-ahead from the medical folks, it’s possible the team still doesn’t allow Rodgers to play … depending on their playoff prospects
The Jets pulled off an unexpected upset win over the Houston Texans on Sunday behind Zach Wilson, who played one of his best games of his career. Still, New York still boasts just a (5-8) record and would likely have to win out in order to make the playoffs, with a bevy of AFC teams fighting for two Wildcard spots.
Let’s wait to see what happens next week against the Miami Dolphins, who have been a juggernaut this season.
It’s highly unlikely the Jet’s front office and coaching staff is going to risk the long-term health of Aaron Rodgers if the team isn’t eligible for playoff contention.
At this point, it feels like a long shot for Rodgers to suit up in a live NFL game this season, but in this league, anything can happen.
