Aaron Rodgers recently finished his 20th season in the NFL, and given what happened in New York this year, the 41-year-old is reportedly contemplating retirement.
Former Green Bay Packers teammate Brett Favre can relate to Rodgers since he was in his position back in the day, so he offered advice to his former understudy.
“If you want to play, if there’s anything in your gut that’s telling you, man, I think I could go one more year then I would say do it,” Favre said in an exclusive interview with TMZ Sports.
“Because you can’t go back. Once you leave, that’s it. You move on. If there’s any little inkling in him that he wants to play and prove that he can still do it at a high level I would say do it. I think I’m right in saying that he has a lot of juice left in the tank,” he added.
Aaron Rodgers draws shocking prediction from analyst
The New York Jets could part ways with Rodgers this offseason even if he still has a year left on his current contract.
Michael Ginnitti from Spotrac predicts that New York will cut Rodgers, prompting the four-time NFL MVP to hang up his cleats for good after 20 years in the league.
“Prediction: The Jets outright release Aaron Rodgers in early March, taking on all $49M of dead cap in 2025 as they look to fully reset their roster & financials. Rodgers takes the spring to assess his options, ultimately opting for retirement after 20 seasons,” Ginnitti wrote in his column.
