Aaron Rodgers and Pat McAfee are good friends. Or at least that’s what more than a few folks believed.
All of a sudden, McAfee’s loyalty to his buddy was put to the test after the New York Jets quarterback decided to attack ABC late-night host Jimmy Kimmel with some stunning accusations. McAfee showed his true colors, or rather, his true feelings on Rodgers after the ESPN host decided to drop the Green Bay Packers icon from his show altogether.
Pat McAfee Says Goodbye to Aaron Rodgers
In a rather surprising turn of events, McAfee recently announced that they have decided to discontinue Rodgers’ weekly guesting on The Pat McAfee Show. This comes after Rodgers’ controversial comments linking Kimmel to disgraced American financier Jeffrey Epstein and his sex trafficking conspiracy charges.
As it turns out, McAfee didn’t enjoy Rodgers’ weekly appearance on the former’s program in the first place:
“The guy who stopped by yesterday caused quite a conversation,” McAfee said (h/t David K. Li of NBC News). “… “So ‘Aaron Rodgers Tuesday,’ season 4 is done. There are going to be a lot of people that happy with that, myself included to be honest.
“The way it ended, it got really loud, really loud. I’m happy that that is not going to be my mentions going forward which is great news.”
McAfee went on to praise Rodgers as a football player, but at the same time, the former Indianapolis Colts All-Pro kicker also made it clear that he’s happy to be moving on from the controversial four-time NFL MVP.
NFL Reacts to Huge Development
As expected, the mean streets of Twitter have had a lot to say about this stunning turn of events. For the most part, the naysayers attacked McAfee for what they consider to be a “sell-out move” by the ESPN host:
Rodgers is being cancelled for calling out the establishment and telling the truth about covid.
That is all. The only people he pissed off were the uninformed, or the establishment.
The Pat McAfee show is a disgrace. The fact they have to apologize for their own show and… pic.twitter.com/1pWwZEfQbi

Beyond disappointed with McAfee, he’s the guy that’ll watch every single person around him get cancelled then act shocked when it comes for him. Also last time Rodgers brought up the Epstein list on there Pat said “what’s that?” So that goes to show, he’s in lala fake land.

Wrong take–– McAfee needed to back up Rodgers.
Makes me kinda not want to watch the show now. Why do we keep letting the mob get away with attacks like this?

Totally agree. Pat comes across as a rebel, and that's why he's so successful. Aaron arguably was a part of his success with his weekly appearances… I wish he never took the ESPN/soul selling deal.

This is a HIGH level of cowardly and incorrect approach on McAfee’s part.
The whole show is “drama” of one sort or another, but he’s “happy” some of the “drama” around truth is gone.
Weak play.

And just like that all respect has been lost for @PatMcAfeeShow

First sell out move by Pat.

It sounds like McAfee lost a lot of fans with his decision to cut ties with Rodgers.
