Aaron Rodgers gave plenty of commentary on his New York Jets teammate Friday afternoon during his press conference. The quarterback, known for his outspoken nature during his time with the Green Bay Packers, appeared to slam his backup quarterback, Zach Wilson, for Wilson not living up to Wilson’s own expectations of competitiveness this offseason.
Rodgers also looked under the hood at two rising stars in the Jets organization, second-year players Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson. Rodgers has been seen getting close to Gardner recently. The two have a new secret weed-handshake greeting. Gardner and Wilson were both studs during their rookie campaign last season.
Aaron Rodgers critiques two New York Jets stars
“We’ve got, at some point possibly, the best corner and best receiver in the NFL,” Rodgers said. “It’s a legit possibility for those two guys, maybe not for this upcoming year. I still think Davante [Adams] is in a league of his own. But those two kids are so talented.”

Rodgers said he believes Wilson has all the talent to take
“[Wilson’s] an awesome young kid. The whole world right in front of him,” Rodgers said. “He’s got all that talent and ability. You need your best players to be the best people on your team. He’s certainly one of them.”

Rodgers is giving his young teammates high praise. And he should. There’s a reason Rodgers wanted to join the Jets this offseason. They have several star players on the defensive side of the ball and young playmakers on offense.
Their 2022 rookie class of Breece Hall, Wilson, and Gardner arguably make up one of the better draft classes in the last decade. Now we’ll see if an aging veteran can’t get them to a Super Bowl finish line before their third season.
