The Aaron Rodgers saga wears on. While everyone assumes the deal is going to get done, the fact that it hasn’t has some fans worried. One passionate New York Jets fan is ESPN’s, Mike Greenberg. In a recent interview, he talked about all things Aaron Rodgers and offered when he is going to start to panic about a trade actually happening.
Mike Greenberg On The Aaron Rodgers Trade
Greenberg thinks that Rodgers gives the Jets a great chance to win one Super Bowl. “The Jets have a roster that has been put together very specifically for what Rodgers does,” Greenberg said. When asked about whether he is worried that a trade could ultimately not happen, Greenberg said that he is not worried…yet. “If it doesn’t happen before the draft, that’s when I think you start getting a little worried.” The draft has often been the deadline for many but we are about two weeks out and we seem no closer to a deal than a month ago.

Could This Happen Post-Draft?
Obviously, every situation is in play. There are benefits to waiting until after the draft but all indications point toward both teams wanting to get a deal done before then. The Packers want draft capital now in order to build around new quarterback Jordan Love and the other young pieces on the roster. The Jets obviously would like Rodgers officially in the fold. Even if it is draft night, it seems that both teams are motivated to get this done by then.

Rumors are swirling of other teams that could swoop in a snatch Aaron Rodgers. The Jets are still the favorite but in this league, things change fast. Right now Jets fans, including Mike Greenberg do not seem concerned but the longer this goes on, the more panic might start to set in. Ultimately, the only risk for the Packers is eating the salary which would be bad but something the team could deal with. As we get closer to the draft, it will be interesting to see if we see any more urgency from each side.
