Year 2 of the New York Jets’ Aaron Rodgers experience can be described as yet another failure for the franchise. The Jets are already out of contention and their outlook with Rodgers seems uncertain.
There can be many explanations for the Jets’ continued malaise despite having a future Hall of Famer under center. But on Wednesday, Rodgers mentioned the possibility of a preternatural force causing the Jets’ downward spiral.
Last Sunday, Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson said that New York’s losing ways could be caused by a “gene.”
“I mean, it might be something like that,” Rodgers said on Wednesday, referring to Wilson’s comment (h/t Dennis Waszak Jr. of the Associated Press).
“It might be some sort of curse we’ve got to snap as well,” Rodgers added.
Aaron Rodgers’ comment sparks fan trolling
Online, fans have all sorts of reactions to Rodgers’ take, many of which are hilariously targeted at the QB.
“This deep insight from Rodgers is why he gets paid millions. Not for his play, not for his leadership on and off the field, not for mentoring rookies. He is paid millions to speak with journalists and podcasters,” a fan said.
“My long standing theory has been that by the end of the year Rodgers will believe in curses,” another commenter wrote.
From a different commenter: “And it’s name is Ayahuasca”
“The curse’s initials are AR,” shared another fan.
“Aaron Rodger’s is calling himself a curse. 🤣🤣🤣,” joked a social media user.
The Jets are 3-10 through 14 weeks of football in the 2024 NFL regular season, and they are also coming off a heartbreaking 32-26 overtime loss at the hands of the Miami Dolphins on the road last Sunday.
Up next for the Jets is a road game in Week 15 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars.
