Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers does not have a clear future in the NFL now that his season is over. The New York Jets fired head coach Robert Saleh after their 2-3 start (they finished 5-12) and Joe Douglas, the general manager who traded for Rodgers, a few weeks later.
After his firing, Saleh was hired by Packers head coach Matt LaFleur to be an offensive assistant on his staff. Meanwhile, Rodgers and the Jets were led by Jeff Ulbirch as the interim head coach. He had been Saleh’s defensive coordinator.
Aaron Rodgers’ Former Coach with the New York Jets Has Been Hired by the Atlanta Falcons
New York, of course, is in the process of trying to find a new head coach. They obviously were not pleased with Ulbrich’s tenure, though they did give him a formal interview for the full time job. However, they have also interviewed many other candidates, including Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.
Though they have not made a decision yet, they must have made it known to Ulbrich that he is out of the running for the position. Earlier tonight, it was reported the the former Jets interim head coach has been hired as the new defensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons:

Ulbrich’s hiring comes just a week after Atlanta fired Jimmy Lake.
Meanwhile, back in New York, the Jets still have some decisions to make. Obviously, whether or not to keep Rodgers is among them. But before the make that decision, they need to find a general manager and head coach.
As mentioned, Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley has already interviewed for the head coaching job. Additionally, current Packers Vice President of Player Personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan has interviewed for their general manager opening.
Ironically, it was Sullivan who put Jordan Love on Brian Gutekunst’s radar as a possible replacement for Rodgers.
