Aaron Rodgers faces stiff competition for MVP this year
Aaron Rodgers has had a fantastic run of success in the previous few seasons. The Green Bay Packers ace quarterback won the 2020 and 2021 NFL Most Valuable Player award two years in a row. Rodgers faces challenges this season with his wide receivers. It would be his ultimate regular season performance if he can put up similar numbers as he did last year.
The 38-year-old Rodgers has plenty of challengers that will put up a fight in the MVP race. BetMGM has their odds on top players to win the coveted MVP prize. They weren’t high on Rodgers.
- Josh Allen +700
- Patrick Mahomes +800
- Tom Brady +800
- Justin Herbert +850
- Aaron Rodgers +1000
- Joe Burrow +1200
- Matthew Stafford +1400
- Russell Wilson +1400
- Dak Prescott +1600
Odds seem low for Rodgers
Placing Rodgers at the fifth-best odds to win MVP after winning twice in a row seems strange. Allen and Brady make sense to be in contention in the top three. Having Mahomes and Herbert ahead of Rodgers doesn’t sit right with me. Herbert has shown he has talent, but I’m not sure he’s ready to be the MVP yet. Mahomes had an off year–by his standards–in 2021.
This is all preseason speculation. I’m sure the odds will look much different by Tuesday next week. If Rodgers carves up the Vikings’ defense in Week One, the odds for MVP will be more in his favor moving forward.
