Aaron Rodgers says his experience with Steelers ‘exceeded expectations’

Pittsburgh Steelers starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers knows that he’s on the tail end of his playing career in the NFL. The former Green Bay Packers superstar signal-caller is no longer the QB he used to be, specifically his version in Titletown, but he is still doing a solid job, all things considered, under center for Pittsburgh.

Rodgers, who turned 42 years old earlier this month, is three years removed from his last campaign with Green Bay, and since then, he’s played for the New York Jets and now with the Steelers.

Aaron Rodgers opens up about Steelers stint before Week 18

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the future Pro Football Hall of Famer positively summed up his stint so far with the AFC North franchise.

    Via Brooke Pryor of ESPN:

“I’m thinking about this week, but obviously I’m 42 years old and I’m on a one-year deal,” he said. “So you know what the situation is. Whenever the season ends, I’ll be a free agent. So that’ll give me a lot of options if I still want to play. I mean, not a lot of options, but there’ll be options, I would think, maybe one or two, if I decide I still want to play.

“I’ve enjoyed this experience, and everybody in Pittsburgh has been fantastic to me on and off the field. And it’s really what I was hoping for this experience was, it’s been even better than I was hoping.”

It remains to be seen whether Rodgers will play for at least one more year in the NFL, but he can’t look too far ahead at the moment, as the Steelers are facing the prospect of missing the NFL playoffs.

If Rodgers and the Steelers are to join the fray in the postseason, they will have to beat or at least tie with the Baltimore Ravens this coming Sunday at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.
