Aaron Rodgers Divulges Conversations With Packers Regarding Trade

This off-season will be headlined once again by possible a trade involving Aaron Rodgers.  Multiple reports have indicated that Green Bay will be at least listening to offers this off-season.  Today Aaron Rodgers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show for his weekly appearance with “the boys.”  Of course, trade conversations took up a large segment of his time on the show.  Rodgers divulged whether or not the Packers have discussed trade conversations with him so far this off-season.

Aaron Rodgers “All Trade Talk Is Conjecture”

During an interview on the Pat McAfee Show Aaron Rodgers stated that during this week’s appearance on McAfee’s show by saying any trade chatter is “all conjecture” until he decides what he wants to do in the future.  Rodgers has stated on multiple occasions that he has yet to decide whether he will return to Green Bay in 2023.  There have been NO official conversations between the Packers and Aaron Rodgers regarding a possible trade as of now.

Rodgers is due $110 million in guaranteed money over the next two seasons.  A trade would benefit the Packers in terms of their salary cap situation. It also almost certainly would net them a fair amount of draft capital in the process.  Schefter noted that the team would explore that scenario but it doesn’t mean it will happen—especially if Rodgers decides to retire. It’s also highly unlikely Green Bay were to trade him to an NFC team, Schefter reports.  New York Jets owner Woody Johnson already stated he would be “happy” to pay the two first round draft picks price that seems to be floating out there.

Two first round picks for QB Aaron Rodgers would be a dream scenario for the Green Bay Packers, especially if they are confident in Jordan Love.  It is no coincidence that multiple outlets are now reporting on what it would take for Aaron Rodgers to be traded.  The Green Bay Packers will, at the very least. be picking up the phone any time a team comes with an offer.  Jordan Love has made it clear that he wants to play in 2023.  If the Packers find the right suitor, the Love era could be a full go in 2023.
