Aaron Rodgers is close to being a Jets quarterback
Aaron Rodgers has not publicly made his intentions for the 2023 season clear. The Green Bay Packers quarterback was assumed, at the end of last season, to have his mind made up before free agency negotiations began Monday. A new report has come out as to where Rodgers stands with the New York Jets in a likely trade.
The Jets have been acting like Rodgers has already been traded. Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard is set to sign with the Jets in free agency. With the free agency signing beginning Wednesday, there appears to be more traction in Rodgers going to the Jets as of Tuesday night.
According to Ian Rapoport with the NFL Network, Rodgers has been communicating with the Jets. Rapoport said the Jets and Packers have not finalized a deal on compensation. Rodgers hasn’t committed to either team as of Tuesday evening. Rapoport pointed out that because Rodgers is scheduled to appear on the Pat McAfee Show Wednesday, that “something will be done in the near future.”

That doesn’t mean a deal will be ready in time for Rodgers’ guest spot with McAfee. After all, it appears part of the trade hold-up is between the Packers and Jets management.
