The Aaron Rodgers era for the New York Jets is fully underway. Rodgers has shown up for OTAs and is actively participating. The effect a four-time MVP quarterback can have on a team that is not used to having that type of leadership can be eye-opening, to say the least. As it turns out, however, Aaron Rodgers will have to do without one of his teammates for the start of the 2023 season.
Aaron Rodgers Teammate Brandin Echols Suspended For The First Game Of The Season
According to Reice Shipley of The Comback:
The New York Jets have a ton of hype surrounding them with the addition of future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Unfortunately, one player will not be taking part in their season-opening matchup against the Buffalo Bills after being suspended on Thursday.
Third-year cornerback Brandin Echols has been with the team since being drafted by the organization in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
He played in 13 games for the organization last season, but will be starting behind the 8-ball in 2023.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero first reported that Echols has been suspended by the NFL for the first game of the season. He added that this is due to Echols violating the league’s personal conduct policy after he was involved in a high-speed crash that left another driver with a severe spinal cord injury.
Echols was issued a number of charges by the Florham Park Police in January, including reckless driving, speeding, unsafe lane change, improper passing, and failure to wear a seatbelt. He was accepted in a diversionary program to avoid assault by auto charges for the injuries dealt to the other driver involved in the crash.
This is obviously a blow to a Jets team that has high hopes of starting their season off right with a win over their division rivals in Week 1.
While one game won’t derail the Jets’ season, it will be yet another hurdle they have to get over to start the season strong. The New York Jets will square off against the Buffalo Bills in the first game of the season at home.

The fans stay loyal to him (Rodgers), but he doesn’t stay loyal to the fans. He should have lived , breathed, and died a Packer.
Brandin Echols being suspended for 1 game is a blow to the team? The Jets have a hurdle? He misses 1 game, but the person who has a severe spinal cord because of Brandin’s stupid and childish and reckless behavior has ruined another person’s life. Surgery. Rehab. Possible paralysis. I don’t feel sorry for the Jets or Brandin. Ban him for life from the NFL and throw his sorry a.. in prison.
I read your bio before commenting and want to first say thank you for your service. Now I too am a Green Bay and Rodgers fan and I think the heading of this article could be different. It’s kind of making it seem like rodgers had something to do with this suspension or at least connecting rodgers to a terrible tragedy that’s out of his control. I would assume a lot of your readers are packers fans and Rodgers fans. So if you put anything jets related, the majority of your readers will read it. “Jets key starter out for beginning of season” would work just fine for readers like me to draw our attention. GoPackGo!
